Re: Do you miss the days of hand-drawn game covers?

I do like some of the Capcom artwork. Especially the Japanese covers.

Why companies feel the need to replace gorgeus Japanese artwork with generic CG tosh is beyond me.

Re: The Arcade Golden Age classics - forever playable?

Love them, they are all about having one more go to beat the high score or to see how long you can survive.

But, as great as they were I lived in the era of Golden Axe, Double Dragon, Final Fight, TMNT, Simpsons, Xmen machines and in my view nothing touches that era.

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 117 - Feedback Thread

Think people are taking what the OP wrote the wrong way, we had a similar issue a while back when people took offence. I'm sure most of the articles are written very well, he meant 'mediocre' as in theres nothing much that interests him, not mediocre crappy articles. That is the exact problem. Peop...

Re: Sections for Retro Gamer

The poll would have been better if you were allowed to pick all the gen you were interested in. limiting it to 3 does not show who is actually interested in the later gen because given the choice the first 3 will always win out. allowing us to pick as many as we wanted would have shown a good perent...

Re: Data East Retro Appreciation Thread

I am actualy a big fan of them Bad dudes vs Dragonninka was a game I always loved, I just loved the look of it and wanted it for ages, the screenshots of fighting on top of trucks on the first level always made me want the game. It helps that they did one of my favourite megadrive games, Two Crude D...

Re: Whats your favourite RPG?

I am probably going to get some stick for this but mine is Blue Dragon on the 360. I have played and completed Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Skies of Arcadia etc and loved them, but sometimes a Game comes along thats not generally considred great, but is just the right game at the right time and t...

Does anyone actually bother with clone consoles

I have started taking an interest in them, I know they are not perect and can be hit and miss but I have ended up with a few and am looking to see of the RETRON5 is going to be any good. I do think they can be quite handy to save use on original machines and most of them are region free so can come ...

I have a boxed Superografx and a few games, but the truth is I hardly ever play on it. http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac237/joncryan/Supergrafx%20and%20games/006_zpscd54eb69.jpg http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac237/joncryan/Supergrafx%20and%20games/007_zps04fe03cb.jpg http://i903.photobucket...

Re: No future for F-Zero?

Where could f zero go next? It's a 90s racer. It goes more wipeout or more Mario kart. To me neither of those is especially appealing. A verison on the 3ds is about the best bet. Some franchises just have their day..... Some new ip from ninty would be welcome. A 90's racer? with more games released...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 117 - Feedback Thread

Thats a poor reason to be honest. you could say that about ps1 - ps2 or master system and megadrive. and its not just about graphics, its about everything as a whole. nearly every game with online integration as a major part, acheivement and reward system, DLC, the introduction of HD support as a s...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 117 - Feedback Thread

I mean the xbox and ps2 will be 2 generations old and will have been released 12 years ago. in comparison when the mag launched the Snes and megadrive were 2 generations old and not far off 12 years since release. No one complained that they were not retro then. Difference is that Xbox and PS2 game...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 117 - Feedback Thread

The Laird wrote:You know the mag is called Retro Gamer right? :?

exactly, so the onset of a new generation is the perfect time to introduce the odd article here and there. Look no one is talking about huge coverage but the odd little piece being introduced hurts no one.
