Re: Original Final fight is better than Original Streets of rage

Compare a game on arcade format with a home console? They may be a similar type of game but they were worlds apart from the start. Personally think the move set and stylings of SOR2 knock Final Fight into a oddly mismatched comparison shaped hat. Next week Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Arcade is bet...

Re: Discuss - 169

The NES controller. What a revelation after having to endure playing on 8-bit home computers with joysticks and only one fire button. no more pushing up to jump on platform games, no more pushing up to accelerate on driving games. That simple addition of a 2nd fire button and a wonderful d-pad meant...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

What gets me is the stinginess with the NES stuff even. 3 games announced. Most of the decent NES games have been available on hundreds of knock off NES-on-a-chip devices for a decade or so, to the point you don't even see that many of them around any more. There was a time just a few years back wh...

Re: Favourite videogame adaptations of books

I remember getting a Streetfighter 2 novel with Super Play once. EDIT It was SNES Force https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ldGooKhdnM I remember a Road Rash one that was given away free with a magazine, it also did a Smash TV one. They were both really pretty good. The Road rash one was Free with Seg...

Re: What single game have you re-played the most over the years?

Playing since 2001 and still going strong: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Flashpoint:_Cold_War_Crisis This is the true face of PC gaming - complex, punishing, mature games with seemingly endless re-playlablity and modding potential and a dedicated community that will fix games to work unde...

Don't know what everyone is moaning about.

In the past fortnight we have had a majority of hot summer days.

Re: I miss unlockable fighters on fighting games

I think you're absolutely right about the tornament crowd. These days, it's all about your game being key in esports. Street Fighter V focuses on it, GT Sport promises to focus on it. It's the next goal for companies to aim for. It's a shame, as I used to love unlocking new fighters, even if they w...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Tried one properly today, Yeah I am sold. tried a workmates today, and its only when you try it you realise a few things, and one thing in particular was a revelation to me. Now I am not a handheld fan, never really enjoyed them, never comfortable playing them, just not something I can do at length....

I miss unlockable fighters on fighting games

It seems that most fighting games all have the characters unlocked from the start. I know this is a lot to do with tournaments etc and that all the pro fighters have instant access to the fighters but its spoiled fighting games IMO. I used to love playing Tekken and Soulblade and unlocking all the f...

Meh. The SNES wouldn't even make my personal Top 10.
we could always do a handheld face off. or you could do a home computer one.

Re: console battle GRAND FINALE - SUPER NINTENDO VS XBOX 360

So its all over. And according to The Retro Gamer Forum, The Super Nintendo is the greatest Console of all time. A well deserved Winner IMO. A deserved Runner up in the Xbox 360. Personal disapointment - The Gx4000 should never have been beaten by the C64GS. I think C64 fans were letting fondness cl...

Re: Highly rated games that you do not like.

Streets of Rage or anything remotely similar. Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, Final Fight. etc. etc. Button bashing at it's worst. Only on the surface and only to people who don't put time into the games. Learning tactics to beat bosses and learning how to approach each enemy takes time and skill. Its like ...
