Re: Rainbow Islands - First Impressions

I saw on the title screen that it said it was the story of Bubble Bobble 2. Then I started the game & was about to get annoyed that the gameplay is nothing like Bubble Bobble. Before the annoyance kicked in however I reluctantly found myself enjoying it.

Re: Rainbow Islands - Best Level

My favourite would have to be the "Halloween" themed island, but the one with Doh (from Arkanoid) as the boss comes a close second, if only for the fact that he's in it!!

Re: Rainbow Islands - Best Conversion

I grew up with the Amstrad version. Not only was it a graphical masterpiece for the machine, but unlike other conversions the difficulty was just right.

Re: Forum Opinion Question (For Issue 78)

I chose Mario as Megaman & Dizzy weren't available. That being said, in that list Bomberman comes second for me.

Re: Recommend me some Japanese Mega Drive games

Snow Bros - From memory the MD version has extra levels. You rescue the girls like normal, then the guys get captured so you play the girls & rescue them.

Re: SC-3000 worth getting?

Not really. I know of a shop in Australia that has brand new SC3000s, old stock obviously, & they want considerably less than £60 for them

Re: Name that sequel you've always wanted.

SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium 2 & Jack the Nipper 3, which would make up for the rather average second game in the series.

Re: Wii Homebrew

Re: What retro-consoles do you still go on-line with?

I could never get any of my Gamecubes online or to communicate with each other. I have 4 Cubes & 2 Broadbans adapters, & they wouldn't communicate with each other or using the Xlink software. In the end I just gave up. I figured it was unlikely both broadband adapters would have problems, so it was ...

Re: Build your own MAME cab article.

That was done back in the "Live" days, & quite a good article it was too. At least, I'm 99% sure it was in the "Live" days... anyway, the CD they sell with early issues should give you what you need.

Re: Your thoughts on the Virtual Boy?

I mainly play 3 games on mine: Mario Tennis Wario Land Jack Bros I also give Mario Clash a go every now & again. All in all it doesn't deserve the reputation it has. Sure it's very red, but let's be honest: the library of games let it down really. Any machine no matter how poor can be successful if ...

Re: Pick 1 game to play forever

I'm leaning towards Super Mario World because I've always said it was gaming perfection. Civilisation would also be a good option because it's a different game every time you play...
