Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Ultimate Ghosts'n'Goblins. Almost like new, bought for £8 at CEX. Really happy of that purchase.
Bought also Code Veronica X, just the disc though as I've got the Platinum one in the non-Platinum case and bought Trackmania 2: Stadium.
I'm a big fan of Trackmania, ever since Sunrise.

Re: Whats your favourite Handheld console?

Quite hard choice between DS and PSP. Both have some great games, both have their own specialities. I've been playing a lot of PSP lately so that will bias me. I love that when the PSP is CFW'd, it's a very functional piece of hardware and you can play almost anything 32-bit (minus Saturn that is) an...

Re: Terraria - 2D Minecraft on disc and XBLA etc

Played it a lot on PC, and I'm curious to play it on 360. Wonderful little game that is and apparently someone was making a Castlvania map on it. Haven't followed the progress on that one.

Re: Your favourite 16-bit platformer

I'd go for Super Mario World, it's got that perfect balance of exploration, fastness, responsiveness and overall fun that not many games can easily match it.
Second best is Rayman, wonderful graphics, awesome and nostalgic music, quite tough but always enjoyable.

Re: Is DOS based MAME emulation bettter?

I should still have all my old MAME stuff on CD, assuming it still works. I've run Puppy Linix on this machine before and that worked fine, so I can put a bare Linux back on, if the DOS stuff dosn't run anymore. Would Linux be the better option betwean that and 98? I would go for Linux, as it's not...

Re: Original Gameboy Collectors Thread

All I have is cartridges for Duke Nukem (pretty good port), Pokemon Blue, Tetris and Super Mario Land. I'll need to do more collecting for it, and to be honest I'm curious to scrounge a copy of Oracle Of Seasons and Daikatana (which was better than the PC/N64 version).

Re: syphon filter

Played a bit of the third and it's good. The PSP ones though are very good games in my opinion and finished them both. I really liked what Bend has done with those 2 releases and they kept a fast pace also for Resistance: Retribution. I'd recommend those two as someone who didn't really play the fir...

Re: Critically panned games that you enjoy

Probably Boiling Point, I was fascinated by it, the open worldness and the jungle. That was back in 2004, and had always trouble playing the game. But everytime I came back to it. But then I played Stalker and Just Cause 2 which do have both the elements of Boiling Point. Far Cry 3 is a strong conte...

Re: Thoughts on Disney Closing LucasArts

The funny thing about Star Wars is that in the early 90s I think a lot of people wondered why they didn't do any Star Wars-related games. There were a lot of letters in mags asking when there would be a Star Wars graphic adventure. Then when they finally did start making games based on the licence ...

YAY!
What type of game is it? Saw some screenshots, is it a normal shooter or RPG?

Re: Rage 2 dead, Doom 4 in bad shape

Quake 2 is probably my favourite FPS of all time. Agreed, Quake 4 was ok, not great, but certainly not terrible. I thought Raven had gone bust after Wolfenstein? That's what I thought too, but apparently they are making some Maps Packs for Call Of Duty, so no games on the horizon. Quite low key the...

Re: Rage 2 dead, Doom 4 in bad shape

Hopefully some company like Raven picks it up, or make Quake 5. I hope that RAVEN aren't allowed anywhere near it, considering what they did with Quake 4 and Wolf (2009). Forgot about Wolf 2009, but I liked Quake 4 really. So forget Raven, then I'd give Quake 4 to some indie developer like Flying W...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Far Cry 3 on PC, completed 90% of it and I've really enjoyed the game. It felt more like Far Cry, such as stuck in an hostile tropical island rather than a boring monotone African one.
One of the best games of 2012 to be honest.
