Re: Less known retro computers to discover

The French Thomson(sp?) range of 6809 machines. Uses AFAIK the same gfx chip as the CPC.
I have odd soft spots for the ADAM, Memotech, Enterprise, Atari 7800.

Must be Llamatron. I think I paid for it - I know I paid for several of Jeff's games.

Re: What are you currently playing?

World of Warcraft Classic - starting in the first seconds of the coming Tuesday (CEST). 2300 if you're in Blighty.
World of Warcraft Ascension. Still. Mostly for the mindgame of making the perfect meta; and how many working styles can you make?

Re: Retro Gamer - issue 197

So I did wonder about the screenshots of the Amstrad Super Robin Hood - was the CPC ever that much pastel flavoured?

Did the magazine just change layout style? I thought the retail front page reminded me of something from years back, as was some new in-mag layout styles.

Re: Tracking lateness

#197 popped when polling my mailbox on Friday (16th), which should be 28 days after my previous (utterly logical). As of lately my sub copy has been around 9 days ahead my newsagent.
(BTW, EDGE is not stocked locally.)

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 195

Fair is fair - I've been in two minds about many issues lately, but this one pushed my retro button all the way down. Cheers!

Re: Retrogaming Spotlight: Donkey Kong

Stellar game. And I think DK Jr is even better. A mainstay of travelling tivolis and burger joints all over. Played it a fair bit, and even rented a Colecovision with it. What I find fascinating it the number of home versions, those trying to be exact, official and (more or less) exact, and those tr...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 195

Just pulled mine out of the bag and stored in the "IN" pile, but for once there was a nice front I'll say. Will have to check out the retail for comparison ofc.

Re: Tracking lateness

There was #195 some time in the past 3 weeks (i.e. Tuesday or earlier) - date unknown as I had a friend who picked up mail while I was away. (There is also a copy of EDGE, but I haven't checked the number.)

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 195

Degrading/non-reusable stuff is, IMO, not a good idea. As is any format that makes collecting harder.

Re: Retro Gaming Spotlight - Space Invaders

I've played it a few times - it seemed a permanent fixture of a traveling tivoli in the 80s. And it never really gripped me as I had seen newer games before it. Monumental point in gaming history, censored game in itself. (Much like I also don't like Pac-Man.) Took until Galaga before shooters got g...

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced

This is the first time ever I'd say Quake _looks_ agreeable. It was everything wrong with PC gaming. Raytracing does all kinds of good things to it.

Re: Subs Department Epic Failure

"It's been a while since you received your last copy of Retro Gamer and we want you back! " Have you completely lost your marbles RG? Did the fix your subs dept do for me confuse yourself? This is not cool. Don't send me bogus mail - my sub is running just fine thank you. EDIT: Even better! The "Fro...
