Re: Questions for Tony 'Daley Thompson' Pomfret

Did Ocean really have a proper library of routines you could basically just plug in to your game for scrolling, multiplexing etc?
Was Rambo a reaction to Commando? Did Ocean try to get the Commando licence?
Any idea how Ocean actually got the Donkey Kong licence? And why not any more Nintendo games?

Kickstarter tracker

The forum, and subsequently the magazine too - could do with a Kickstarter tracker that reports on retro campaigns that you don't want to miss out on. Many now can be jumped in on after a successful campaign too. Right now I have backed "Retro Format" and "8-bit wars", and preivously there was an Au...

Re: Tracking lateness

Oh, and my "Re-sub EDGE now!" letter was dated 8th May and came here the 19th. Sent by air mail and everything (yeah, they have their priorities worked out).
Apart from not being on sale in my newsagent for years, the over-the-counter price is 2-3x the cost of a sub.

Re: Questions for Chris 'Software Projects' Cannon

How did you compare yourselves to the US companies that were already in the market (and possibly having a bit more professional approach)?
What markets were you targeting - UK only?
What were your inspirations?

Been playing on my Cocktail Cab that I've just reinstalled. 2 player Gauntlet is still bleedin good fun. What is it about cocktail cabs that is so sexy? Perhaps it is the glass top - I love glass top tables. And Gauntlet? Now you're just teasing. Or trolling. How do you play one on each side at the...

Re: Tracking lateness

Speaking of which, I have not gotten any mail from Future that I can find. I do subscribe to a virus/spam filtering service at my ISP, but considering what still passes through that should not have stopped it.

The search for #205 ended in my mailbox last Friday (27th) - a respectable 29 days since the previous and so pretty much on time.

Re: Questions for Howie 'Atari/Gottlieb/Jaleco' Rubin

One thing I have always wondered: Were coin-ops in Europe fitted with NTSC monitors and 110V converters? 220V PSUs? Wasn't it kind of a nuisance to sell them outside the US? Then the local distributors would have to have parts for it etc. How was it to sell through to various parts of the world? Did...
