Re: Improving the magazine
one thing I certainly wouldnt want to see is homebrew expanded to 6 pages as Darran was hinting (unless I misread). That's a lot of regular pages for any feature. i'm keeping out of that one... i mean, if he wants six pages i can probably manage it but i had a quick "bugger, my heart just stopped i...

Re: Issue 80 feedback
i enjoyed the fact that there was all that rainbow islands stuff in the last mag, kind of an exhaustive look at it - i'm assuming we'll never see rainbow island feature again in the mag.i'd rather have it all in one info-bomb than having, say, jet set willy (or whatever that game is..) get a big fe...

Re: Issue 80 feedback
will post more once I've read cover to cover, but I have to say that I think to have Axelay Ultimate Guide and as Lets All Play all in once issue is a bit OTT (and I like Axelay). I said exactly this last issue about Rainbow Islands but it seemed a lot of folks seem to like it. To me, it makes sens...

Re: Improving the magazine
Start a series of features looking at certain elements in games and how those features have evolved over the years - i.e. for starters you could have: the concept of how progression in games changed from having to start from scratch when you died, to multiple lives to checkpoints; linked to the abov...

Re: Tracksuit manager
Consider me another fan of TM. I used to put a double-plug on the '8' key to speed up the commentary. :D I loved the premise of The Double, too, in that you needed to watch players play to see if they were any good, rather than just read a number. There were some damn fine football management games ...

Re: Games that start great and get progressively worse
Well, no. Whilst I do actually partially agree that people like the same old, same old, that wasn't the problem with Dead Rising. It was the fact that there wasn't actually much to do in it, at all. You kill zombies and bosses. That's it. In fact, the time limit is exactly what gives it a level-lik...

Re: Games that start great and get progressively worse
Dead Rising was brilliant from start to finish (Otis apart). What the game proved for me is that all the people asking for innovation actually don't want innovation. Innovation freaks them out. And the main innovation of Dead Rising was only a small one, a realistic timeline that allowed the player...

Re: Questions for Al 'Pong' Alcorn
Is it just me that feels that we've had a lot of Atari coverage of late? Is that a bad thing? Kinda evens out the previous low coverage on the topic. When it's all compressed into a short time frame I think it is, yes. And I think Atari have always had decent coverage throughout the mags' his...

Re: Games that start great and get progressively worse
agree completely with dead rising. never before have i looked forward to getting the game based on playing the demo and then been soo pee'd off after playing for an hour. resistance 1 on the ps3 is another example. loved the whole back story and the opening 5-6 levels, then all of a sudden you real...

Re: ever bought a console for 1 game ?
I'd been umming-and-ahhhing about getting a PS2 for a while because I really fancied Disgaea; I'd been debating it for some weeks, always poring over the box in Game and looking at deals on PS2s. But I had a good gaming PC and an Xbox, so most genres I liked were covered. But I still craved Disgaea....

Games that start great and get progressively worse
IN the thread about quitting games, Freestyler said this: Your game better grab me in the first hour or it's being binned. I'm not forced to watch 20 episodes of House before it starts getting enjoyable, so why do I have to with Videogames? I'll watch one, maybe two episodes. If it's not good the TV...

Re: Video game crash feature?
Hi marty. In the other thread you linked to, you said this: Actually no, a lot of the information brought up in google searches regarding the crash is based on bad info, conflicting personal theories, or just plane wrong and tends to confuse people even more. Asking here, on a forum dedicated to ret...

Re: the hardest or just plain unfair game you played ?
The whole of the TNA Impact - a constant game of cheap AI that could (and would) decide to beat you on a whim.
I know that happens with all wrestling games (where the AI will have a little phase of being untouchable), but in TNA it really was the whole game.
Oh, I did swear a bit playing that.
