Re: Official Feedback Issue 98

If i see a 30 year old game which 'might' look crap i dont really care as i know retro games are often about the gameplay not garish or monochrome graphics or poor tunes/sound effects. I go back and play games like Bomb Jack on Mame/Speccy because the gameplay is superb and of course theres the nos...

'Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.' And thank godness we don't.How boring would that be?. Re: Retro Soccer Games

Yep loved Match Day II ! I must admit my favourite was Player Manager on the Amiga. Dino Dino created it, basically Kick off but with a bit of 'managerial' simulation to it as you could buy new players, play in cups/leagues, players would age etc. As long as you kept your 'player manager' playing y...

Re: Official Feedback Issue 98

I'm not assuming that's what they want at all. I wouldn't be so arrogant to assume I know what the readership wants. What I mean to say is that if there was to be a new Mario feature (one currently isn't planned) then I'd want it to be something that was a big deal different from the previous one, ...

Re: Official Feedback Issue 98

No. That's not what I'm saying at all. There is no pressure to get new readers, and certainly not at the expense of existing readers. That would be insane. A magazine does need readers to remain healthy though, that's just common sense, so if you do have more readers, you have a healthier mag and e...

I'm not sure why you find that fact surprising when the Vita was only on sale for 2 days.

Re: From the forum issue 96

I am very tempted to say Batty as that was brilliant and another one that comes close is A Whole New Ball Game that cam free on a Crash tape but the one I actually spent the most time with was a really good footy manager game that came free with ST Action. It was called The Manager (great original ...

Re: From the forum issue 96

Right towards the end of the Amiga's life there was a disc-based magazine that ran for probably only a couple of issues (it was terrible), but it did have one of the best football games on it I'd ever played at the time. No idea what the game or 'mag' were called though.

Re: Can we have less Nintendo love for a while

Special editions like last month aside, this is a conversation that never really goes away. When the mag ramp up 8 bit coverage, console lovers complain that its too focussed on the 80's home micros, when an issue is more console specific or covering 16 and 32 bit stuff, the 8 bit micro lovers comp...

Re: Can we have less Nintendo love for a while

It's funny how most people have focussed on the Zelda comment and not the full content of the original post. Ignoring the current issue, Nintendo games (be they Nintendo's own output or Nintendo-exclusive titles) have featured very-heavily over a period of time disproportionately to other systems - ...

Re: The future of retro gaming

The games industry currently isn't concerned about you or me wanting to play their games years into the future, they're only interested in making money now, and then moving onto the next big thing and making us all move with them. Once they all realise how they should have done things to sustain in...

Re: How about a seperate forum for each console?

The amount of current-gen stuff reflects the membership here; if there was more interest in talking about retro games the threads would be there - but they aren't. Splitting the forum in any way would make that more obvious. Out of interest, what good forums *are* out there for general retro talk? I...

Re: Franchises that have lost there way this gen

I know a lot of people have commented on how awkward it is to control your character on early Resi, but i personally never found this. With consideration of the world you're in the controls work fine. I never felt at a large disadvantage or that the game was unfair because most zombies are slow mov...

Re: Issue 87 - Collectors Guide Opinon

I enjoyed the N64 article. It's a great idea, most people are collectors and I found the checklist pretty useful. The retrospective on consoles was good while it lasted, but it's reached the point where the machines are too obscure or have so few games that they are never going to be worth buying. ...

I think the idea that a feedback thread should have actual feedback seems retro now.
