Re: Introduce yourself

Hi all! So I found this place because of a squabble between an indie game reviewer and a developer, and it seems like a nice place here. I'm a big fan of retro games, maybe because they remind me of a simpler time, maybe because I'm in denial about being older, and maybe because modern games just t...

Re: Dr Who - the old series - and other Cult Sci Fi

I really like Dr Who. Always have. I'm no completist nerd, and I don't own any books or DVDs, but as far as telly goes, it's just wonderful. But I really miss the proper old school theme music. There's a wonderful YouTube compilation of lots of title sequences, and the black and white ones all have ...

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi all! Been snooping about for a while but thought it would only be polite to sign up and post a little! Like most of you I have been a gamer all my life. My first console was a Master System 2 and still have it today. Some of my fondest memories include playing a full world cup on the first FIFA ...

Re: wii U

Is it me or are a few "Multi-platform" games skipping the WiiU? Not being a hater and all it just seems weird that developers seem to not be jumping on board Digital Foundry has the answer: none of them look as good or perform as well as their 360 and ps3 equivalents, so it's hardly worth the effor...

Re: Favourite Bethesda Game?

Skyrim for me. Tried Morrowind, couldn't get on with it; could be I'm just too lazy to play it properly. Oblivion was okay (I do remember being amazed at my friend playing it when it came out, so it's still a good game to me), but Skyrim just got it right for me. Got Fallout 3 sitting in my cupboar...

Just finished it. Great stuff as usual. Never played a Minter game, but really enjoyed that article.

Well done all

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 110 Official Feedback

Yeah, because our After burner cover on issue 71 was a real Christmas doozy... I remember that cover attempting to douse my Christmas spirit! I'm sure that cover didn't meet with the Christmas posse's approval either. Ok, I confess to being a part of that posse! The following year however... http:/...

Re: Does anybody find the current-gen consoles...

I love my 360 and loved the Xbox before it.

I had zero interest in the Wii because it was rubbish, and I didn't see anything in the PS3 that I wanted more than the great stuff on the 360, and nothing that went across both was obviously better on the PS3, in most cases it was worse.

Re: Halo 4

OK, but let's be honest, there is no more depressing, soul-suckingly awful, masochistic experience than playing through The Library on Legendary. Misery on a cyclopean scale.

Guilty 8-bit Secrets

OK, i was (am) the sort of person who - despite being essentially a Speccy owner - actually preferred reading Zzap! to Crash, and bought it even without owning a C64. Is that a bit weird? On a related note, Crash is much easier to buy on ebay than Zzap! and i recently bought about 20 old Crashes (in...

Re: Love retro = love Japanese games?

I am not really a fan of Japanese games either, never have been. And I exclusively play retro games for the most part. Exclusively? Wow, really? Why? Loads of "modern" games are wonderful. And if you eschew Nippon, what is there? Just 8-bit and 16-bit computers? Or US Megadrive? Reading RG has alwa...

Re: Halo 4

I usually blast through Halo(s) on Normal, then take a more leisurely - if that's the right word - "proper" go at a higher difficulty. I started playing this one on Heroic. Not too hard, really. But still wonderful to play. I'm pretty near the end, I think. Doubt I'll have to time or inclination to...
