Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I don't want it to compete with Sony and Microsoft. I want the unique characters and polish Nintendo bring to a game. There is room for the Switch in the market, appealing to a different fanbase to the others. Word. I still want it to be so competitive that we'll see some decent 3rd party support t...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I really look forward to knowing more. Right now, it's all rumors. Which is okay for a while, but I want hard facts soon. So far it looks very promising, except the battery issue.

Re: From The Forum issue 162 - Retro Gaming Woes

Being a poor student, definitely the poor use of Virtual Console by Nintendo lately. What a wasted opportunity!

Sega dominance in Europe?

I'm reading a book on Sega's rise and fall these days; Service Games: The Rise and Fall of Sega. A very interesting read, but it had me thinking: It says time and again that Sega was all conquering, so to speak, in Europe until the coming of Playstation, except in Switzerland and "some" Scandinavian...

The masters of Commodore 64 games

So the small Norwegian news/retro gaming site Spillhistorie.no (gaming history translated), has a new article released today. It's a very interesting article on the topic of games mastering, in particular on C64. The author has managed to get his hands on some rare mastering floppies from way back t...

Re: Future acquire Imagine

Okay, fair enough. I guess they won't screw me completely over at least. I'd like to add that I am really enjoying the mag on the ipad btw. Five years and almost all backissues....it's been a blast. And very cheap compared to import the paper edition, I might add. Reading through load 40-somet...

Re: Future acquire Imagine

Darran/whoever in the know: I've been a subscriber to the digital ipad version for five years. Will it be affected? I have almost all Retro Gamer mags bought or subbed there, and I just got my sub for six months renewed.

Mmmm, gold, classy.

I guess this is the last issue with the IP logo on the cover...

Re: From The Forum issue 156 - Game Boy Advance

Got mine when my family was on our first vacation to Gran Canaria, back in 2001. Still has it, still works, and is part of my little Nintendo handheld collection.:) First game I had on it was the GBA version of Super Mario World IIRC.

Shooters have never been my thing. Only shooter I've ever enjoyed is Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM, as they were amazing and fresh at the time, and hooked even me with the amazing technology.

Re: In The Chair - Ed Fries

Do you think the recent rumored plans by Microsoft and Sony to release updates to their consoles mid cycle will fare better than Sega's illfated attempts? Why?

Re: Reader feedback wanted

I am possibly in a minority here, but I find myself skipping the homebrew pages. If something catches my eye I would read it, but I don't really take the time to look over every game as it really doesn't interest me that much. I really like the inclusion of Conversion Capers on game features. Gener...
