I like Retro collect, have not had much to do with Retro canteen and Atariage seems ok but full of people who think they are gods gift because they have done a bit of programming.

Re: IRC Retro Gaming Chat 9pm Sunday July 22nd

The special guest star arrived again for Sunday's episode. But who was it? George Hamilton? Rock Hudson? Ricardo Montalban? No, it was "laslo", and sadly, he didn't seem to have any lines, as he just lurked in the background suspiciously before logging off again! Maybe he was hungry and decided to g...

Re: IRC Retro Gaming Chat 9pm Sunday July 22nd

Well, children, we have another weekend and another anachronism to look forward to: the Retro Gaming IRC channel! We can only hope it will be as exciting as last week's, and will we get the mystery guest who always seems to log on in the first hour then disappears? I will be talking about the Arcade...

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

Slightly off topic and a bit vague maybe, but how long did it take to load a 512k Amiga game off the 3 inch disks?

Re: IRC Retro Gaming Chat 9pm Sunday July 15th

Last night was interesting, though would have been more so had the traditional mystery man actually spoken. Yes, this time it was "TicTacToe" who came on without identifying himself and said nothing. Who will it be next week???? Tune in from 9pm this Sunday to find out!!

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

Hmm, I didn't think it was trolling. I just assumed everyone accepted that because the Spectrum was quickest at loading tapes without sacrificing reliability, and the coloured loading bars gave you a good indication of anything that was wrong. So are there people here in the know who think the C64 o...

Re: IRC Retro Gaming Chat 9pm Sunday from July 15th

The biggest sporting weekend of the year arrives with both the men's singles final at Wimbledon and the World Cup Final not only on the same day, but probably at the same time as well, the first occasion that's ever happened. England of course won't be in that final, and truth be told they didn't de...

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

Looking at the answers, it's clearly dependant on what computer you had. It it were an Atari 8 bit, then disks were better cause tapes took three years to load. The C64 wasn't much better till later on when turbos brought load times under six minutes. With the Spectrum though - the best micro for t...

Re: Save our forum!

The problem with facebook though is that it's not so easy to find content from the past and good threads like it is in a forum. There have been some great multipage discussions on WOS, Lemon64, here and others in the past and they can be looked at pretty easily years later. Facebook seems a bit clu...

Re: The Wonders of the World Cup

 To be honest when I made that comment I was wondering when someone would have a go at me heh. If England win the world cup, it'll be amazing, no question, but what players in that team would play for a Madrid or Barcelona, Bayern Munich or whatever? Harry Kane??? I don't think there'll be ...

Re: The Wonders of the World Cup

You can only beat what's put in front of you as they say. I have never known a world cup like it, where nearly all the big name teams (France excluded) have been dumped out before so early. The closest was Japan/Korea 2002. Germany in that tournament were like England now - unfancied with pretty av...

I've put a poll on this topic because there seems to be a lot of answers either way. I've started things off by voting for tapes :)

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

How much more expensive were floppies over cassette games though? In Australia it might be different than over here, but they were twice as expensive, right?
