Eye of the Beholders One and Two were [apparently] much better than EotB3. I only played the first two but I read at the time that by the third one the genre was running out of steam. I'm not sure about the other ones; Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades etc. Certainly Amiga Power ...

To (re) state the obvious - Amiga. Amiga A500 as the best 16bit computer and Amiga 1200 as the best 32bit machine. The A4000 is/was more expandable but for price / power ratio the A1200 wins.

My 13 year old A1200 (all tooled up in it's power tower et al) is still going strong! :D

Chaos Engine - not only one of the Amiga's finest two-player games but enhanced enormously by some superb context-sensitive music. All of which was down to Richard Joseph, perhaps his finest on the Amiga. And I liked the character cards you got in the box. A nice touch, but the music's definitely th...

It was a close call for me. I play a lot of Spectrum games on my iBook and I use my PSP for several of the retro compilations. BUT I still use my Spectrum and Amiga to play games on them. I also use my Amiga to emulate the Spectrum and Master System - where's the option for "using retro systems to e...

I broke a Sinclair SJS1 joystick playing Daley Thompson's Olympic Challenge - no loss there then :D Slightly more annoying for me was throwing a Rainbow islands tape across my bedroom when my +2A refused to load it once more ... the tape exploded and it took me about 15 years to get a replacement .....

Your Sinclair was my introduction to computing magazines. Did they have a heavily armed, bad tempered teddy bear as a mascot or is my memory playing tricks on me? You're 50% correct. The teddy bear in question was Kamikaze Bear, thought up and used by Sinclair User, not YS. Kami was funny for about...

I cut my computer mag teeth on ACE. Still got the first 20 issues plus the last one. You can really tell the difference in quality between the Future and EMAP published issues. As a spec-chum, I'm going to say YS, then Crash & SU As an Amigan, AP, AF then CU. The only 'modern' computer mags I get th...

The internal hard drive is a standard 2.5" affair I believe although I don't know what the maximum capacity an Amiga supports is. The max capacity for Workbench revisions earlier than 3.5 was 4gb ... not sure what the max was / is for AmigaOS 3.5 / 3.9 / 4.0, though my 3.9-equipped Amiga has a 8gig...

My collection seems quite small now! Spectrum 48K (rubber keyed jobby) - in storage Spectrum +2A - regularly used Amiga A1200 (in a big tower, souped up) - regularly used Amiga CD32 (inc SX32/HD/extra RAM) - in storage PSP - regularly used DS (which is on 'permanent loan' to my other half) Wii - reg...

Mine would be:

Amiga: Apidya, Project-X SE (the original was far too hard) and Ruff N Tumble (a great run & gun game).

Speccy: Lightforce, R-Type, Bedlam, Flying Shark & St. Dragon

PSP: Varth (from Capcom Classiscs Remixed) & any of the Gradius games

Re:

Comments as in little boxouts with a micro review or second opinion would be great ... I voted YES after reading FatTrucker's comments. A page of reader micro reviews (200 words max?) would be a good idea, with the 'prize' of having their review being published. Sinclair User did a similar feature ...

Not when I used to get it. They were doing tapes for ages and still kept a high page count. Forgot about this point. Crash went to 32 pages for 1 issue, then up to 50 pages for about a year. They then went up to 66 pages around summer of 1991 which was around the same time that YS went down from ap...

Re:

But Crash was better with more pages and no tape If I'd wanted old games,I'd have bought one of the many compilations going about True. And YS was also better without the covertape. Whether we knew it or not, liked it or not, at the time that's the way the Spectrum magazine market was going. And by...
