Re: Spectrum Screenshot Challenge

Cheers guys! Which screenshots are Amstrad or c64? I'll double check, as all of the images are from mobygames and marked as spectrum  c64: Tarzan Goes Ape Amstrad: Mystery of the Nile The Hobbit fwiw, there are Spectrum shots of those games on Mobygames. I scored 71. Not bad for a c64 chap.

Re: The rise of the 'parent's basement' brigade.

I think I know the type Killbot is referring to. Sometimes you run across them on youtube in videos where they get inexplicably furious over something Sony/MS/Nintendo has/hasn't done. Or you find them in the comments section, wishing death upon those they disagree with. I think one of the things th...

I think it was Bug Princess 2 on my iPad, thanks to the Cave Xmas sale.

Re: There are no memorable tunes in gaming anymore!

Only one that comes to mind, though not exactly recent, is 'Still Alive' from Portal.

And maybe some music from Halo... umm... 1?

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Was watching The Dark Knight Rises but stopped halfway through and haven't felt like returning to it. Found the characters and the plot barely engaging for some reason. Watched Super 8 after that. Not a particularly original film perhaps, but I felt far more interested in the characters and quite en...

Re: The hobbit.

there is not a single thing about this that I could care less about. So you care a great deal! I'm surprised you're not interested when you care so much about it. Ah, but he included the 'not'. It just came earlier in the sentence: "There's not a single thing about this that I could care less about...

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations

Now that is impressive :D I had enough trouble doing it with a weapon (with double ammo), I couldn't imagine managing it with no weapon at all. It was mainly luck, I assure you. There was nothing impressive about the way I whimpered through that whole experience. :) Incidentally, this is the first ...

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations

I'm just not sure if you can do the better speed boost in this game (which I think was knock the taxi into reverse then qucikly knock it back into forward in the arcade/Dreamcast version). Yeah, that's the one. As ridiculous as it was (go faster by slamming briefly into reverse, wtf?) it really add...

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations

My only complaint is the pop up adds mid game. I'd honestly pay a couple of quid to have an add free version over this model. And unfortunately, making an IAP doesn't remove the ads. Or at least they didn't disappear after I bought the coin doubler. I found that a bit annoying. There are also some ...

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations

I also picked up Crazy Taxi on a whim. Its an impressive port to say the least. 60fps on my iPhone 5 with the original soundtrack intact. Any idea how to pull off the spead boost and drift moves in the game? I checked the in game manual and couldn't find any instructions on how to do them. Its an e...

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations

Crikey that Into The Dead is a bit of goodness :D Ive read some are experiencing the occasional crashing issues but I think Pikpok have sorted it now. Yea I'm loving it too, can't complain for free! I almost gave this a miss because zombies are so overused in games. But i'm so glad I gave it a go.....

Terra Cresta when you get all the ship pieces. Oh hey, I'm a huge invulnerable flaming phoenix. I like!

Then you revert to being a huge bullet spewing attack craft, which is also acceptable.

God the backgrounds in The Last Blade games are amazing. Love the style of the ones from the SF Alpha series too. Re: Sprite based, third person perspective, arcade racers.

Outrunners (arcade) is a lot of fun.

And for those with iToys, Final Freeway 2 on iOS is a fast and fluid homage to Outrun and its brethren.
