Presumably one of them wasn't magnificent.

Re: XBOX ONE

It'll be interesting to see what the increased power and fidelity of Kinect 2.0 brings to the table. Doing things like Skype video chat could be pretty cool, being able to chat to people on your big telly. (I realise there ways of doing this already). But all this talk about accessing live TV, TV, T...

Re: Mirrors Edge

Mirror's Edge was great, one of the few modern games I want to play through again. It rewards skillful playing with a great sense of speed and fluidity. However, achieving that feeling requires a fairly high level of skill. Which some players don't possess. Like Crusto. Is what I'm getting at. ;)

Re: Speccy VS C64 VS CPC

Just on the resolutions, didn't the C64 have different graphics modes that nobody really used? Something equal to the Speccy's 256×192 resolution but with equally limited palette :?: Actually there are plenty of c64 games that use its 320 x 200 hires mode, and loads more that mix a bit of hires in ...

Yeah, the Metal Slugs are the little tanks. Kind of weird... maybe they are meant to evoke slugs, i.e., terrestrial gastropod mollusks.*

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations

Wot I've been playing: Mr Crab http://i.imgur.com/DbrEP8G.jpg Thanks to psj for steering me onto this via his post above. Not only is this game immediately fun to play and beautiful to look at (so shiny!), but it actually delivers a surprisingly uncompromising challenge later in the game. Don't be f...

Re: apparantly they are going to release a super nes

I had zero interest in the NES, with all its dull purple green and orange platformers. This so-called Super NES will just be more of the same, except with some extra visual gimmicks that only graphics whores will care about anyway. I'll stick to playing challenging and vibrant games on my Atari 2600...

Re: Intros/cut-scenes/endings

I don't have much patience for cut scenes usually, but in some cases the story can be engrossing enough that I'll happily watch every one.

Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories spring to mind as good examples.

Maybe RE: Code Veronica as well, though it's been years since I played it.

Re: Remember the days before memory cards?

I remember having to keep little slips of paper with my high scores written on them tucked away with my game disks.

Certainly a far cry from online leaderboards. :)

Difficult to pick just three, but in no particular order: The Sting To Kill a Mockingbird Goodfellas Others I really want to include... One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Fargo The Constant Gardener Amadeus Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Glengarry Glen Ross Die Hard ...and of course, Jaws, Godfa...

Re: iPad help?

As a possible workaround, when the ipad is locked with the screen turned off, try taking a small magnet such as a fridge magnet and slide it down the right-hand edge of the ipad... not along the very edge where the metal is, but down the centre of the black bezel. If the setting for ipad cover lock/...

Most games I buy nowadays cost between 99c and $5. Crazy days!

No manuals, maps, comics, posters, badges or souvenir hats though. ;)

Lately I've been playing... http://i.imgur.com/DnNHVTk.jpg Mr. Aahh!! One of those very simple but strangely compulsive games. Jump off the ropes and try to land smack bang in the middle of the platforms. Very much a quick pick up and play game. http://i.imgur.com/qHTB3DU.jpg Alien Breed. Always fou...

Re: Graphics, Graphics, Graphics?

I know a lot of people bang on about gameplay being king and visuals don't matter, but TBH apart from a very narrow spectrum of genre's, gameplay, sound, and graphics are very much symbiotic. This doesn't mean good graphics have to be photorealistic, plenty of games benefit from a specifically styl...
