Re: Mame Arcade Bezels

Those look real! Anyway, if you mean the software based ones, as far as I can remember, if you can get hold of the "artwork" files (don't ask me where), you just need to put them in the appropriate directory. The artwork can include backgrounds and overlays as well as bezels. However, I haven't used...

Just seen this. Grim. Can't say I feel compelled to ever watch it again. Skillfully made though, I'm sure.

Re: Your greatest gaming gamble

While at a computer / games show at Alexandra Palace in late 1988, a friend of mine bought two Atari ST games without us knowing what they were like. The games were Speedball (result!) and Afterburner (oh dear...). You win some, you lose some.

Re: From The Forum issue 174 - Your favourite Xbox game

I would say Panza Dragoon Orta, which still looks great today when using a component cable for an HDTV. That alone is worth getting an Xbox for. Especially as they only cost about £20 in Cash Converters.

Yet another individual who seems to think he was into "retrogaming" before anyone else - before "retrogaming" was invented, or a "thing".... Just like me, and you, and everybody else on this forum. Wow, what a trailblazer!

Didn't really watch it past that point.

Subscribe? No.

FPS haters should try Timesplitters 2 or TS: Future Perfect. If you don't like them then you truly don't like FPS games.
Indeed. Two of my favourite FPS!

Re: Games genres that you just don't like

2D Fighting Games. Such as Street Fighter 2 and all the similar ones (King of Fighters, etc.). I have always found I get bored of them very quickly. I really tried to get into SF2 on the SNES because it was such a good conversion. There's a whole bunch of hours I'll never get back. To me SF2 is the ...

By occasionally playing games via emulation on a DS Lite and an Xbox, but more regularly by just reading about Speccy stuff in RG, at World of Spectrum and in various FB groups. Good times!

Re: The 80's arcade crash

Not that popular? Nearly every kid I knew had a VCS round my way! [/quote] I knew a couple of kids who had Atari VCSs, when I had a "TV Game". There were a fair few VCSs about, but it seems nowhere near as popular as home computers, when they took off. I knew kids who had Spectrums, C64s, Atari 800...

Re: The 80's arcade crash

It is also quite annoying when an American person produces some sort of "Complete History of Video Games" and spends half of it banging on about the NES (not popular in Europe), but barely mentions 8bit and 16bit home computers (VERY popular in Europe).

Re: The 80's arcade crash

I think the "Worldwide Video Game Crash" is rather like "World Series Baseball", in that no-one outside the USA had anything to do with it. Except for Canada, perhaps.

It seems that it is only in recent years that the USA media has realised the rest of the world actually exists.

Mainly watch recorded / series link stuff via a Freeview recorder. Like Sky Plus without the constant fee paying, but less channels. Cheap as chips!

Re: From THe Forum: Issue 170

Dropzone. I did not play it back in the day. I first played it about 10 years ago. To me, it is THE stand-out game on the C64. If you're impressed with it on the c64, you should try it on the A8. I did. I thought they were virtually identical. So I would give the same answer to the best Atari 800 g...
