I remember some cereals were packaged with advergames to help stuff the cereal brand even further into our skull. However my family had a mac so we couldn't run them. Take THAT, cereal giants!

In Attack the Block, they constantly refer to videogames like gears of war and Fifa. Sounds more like product placement than a reference though. I don't know why any brand would want to associate itself with that movie, but who knows.

I'd say that in terms of non-internet culture, 90's beats 2000's hands down. That includes video games.

In terms of internet, the 90's were pretty much a dot com bubble and animated gifs.
