Re: What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?
So maybe one problem is to define '3rd person' as well as define 3D? 3rd person is exactly that - is the default game played from behind the main character? This is why something like Skyrim isn't really considered 3rd person because, depite having a 3rd person camera, it's default play style is rea...

Re: What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?
Mercenary was first person though. It might have had a 3rd person camera but it was a 1st person game really - but like Skyrim. You wouldn't say Skyrim was 3rd person.
And Ant Attack was forced perspective 3D so again doesn't count.
Unless I'm wrong?

What was the first open world, real 3D, 3rd person action adventure?
The earliest I can remember is Hunter on Amiga:

But I seem to remember there was a 3D line vector game on the Speccy that had a 3rd person camera??
I'm talking character based as opposed to vehicle.

Re: harvest moon newbie
Been a while since I played a HM game. But if I remember rightly, Innocent Life is the better 'game'. Not sure they're right for drib n drab play though. Although that relies on what your time frames are for DnD - are we talking 5 - 10 mins or half an hour? I'm not sure if HM games fit a 5-10 mins r...

Re: Pandemonium! (PSOne/PC)
Another game you might like to try is Klonoa: Door to phantomile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CRQycJw_do Another excellent 2.5D game. :) Be warned though, if you want a physical copy it ain't cheap. Wow. Yeh, just looked. Crazy. The USA versions are well over $100! How come? Was it that rare??...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I enjoyed Revaltions on the Wii U . It's not a system seller or anything but deffinately a worthy addition to anyone's Switch collection. I'm hoping when it comes and I'm holding it in my hands and I'm playing Zelda on it that my guilty emotions will fade away, like tears in the rain............. Z...

Re: Pandemonium! (PSOne/PC)
Loved this game. If memory serves it was one of the first 2.5D games but whereas others did nothing with the 3D element, Pandemonium had paths into and out of the screen. It also hit the sweet spot of platformer control systems and interactions with the game world that games like Mario et all got so...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I caved. Ordered one from Amazon. With a voucher my friend got me it came in at £250. Have to wait for late August to receive it though. Right now I'm not feeling good about myself for buying it, but I just couldn't help myself. It's my wife's fault. She always insists that I buy things because I'm a...

Re: Obscure Platform games
I would argue the Atari 7800 version of Nebulus (Tower Toppler) is the best actually as apparently it used the C64 code as a base and then made improvements on it. I wouldn't say that either of the Saboteur games are platformers though, they are definitely arcade adventures. I've never played the 7...

Re: Obscure Platform games
Captain Dynamo is very good. Takes a bit to get used to the jumping animations and gravity but once you do, is a very good game. Sir Fred on the Spectrum was an excellent game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7550tkWD3a4 Nebulus. C64 was the best version I think but the Amiga version was pretty good ...

Re: The XBOX ONE / PS4 discussion thread
It probably wasn't made to be profitable in the short term. When a new platform arrives the list of games is very small. BC is a perfect way of bumping up your catalogue list almost overnight. The slight misstep that MS made here IMO was to not have hundreds, if not thousands of titles available in ...

Re: SNES Mini Announced
Coming at this from a VERY cynical angle myself. Nintendo release two retro based consoles in extremely limited number. Why? To make money? Ok, let's do the numbers: 2.3M mini NES sold at a cost average of about £50 (That was the RRP - Nintendo doesn't make extra money for higher retail prices, that...
