Re: Magazine Quality - Latest issue

Voting or doing surveys for content is a bad idea - the people who hang around on the forum are not representative of the general population of the mag. Even just looking at the difference in feedback between these Forums and the Facebook page make that pretty obvious. The best indication of whether...

Re: From The Forum issue 187 - Favourite SNK game

IKARI Warriors was seminal, but for me Guerilla War just edges it due to it being slightly easier to complete unlike IKARI was with its insane difficulty on the last stage.

Re: Illuminati 2.0

The Illuminati article is one of my all time favourites - John Szczepaniak was the writer (not sure on the spelling) - I always wished he'd write more for the mag as I loved those two articles.

Subs Issue 185 turned up in New Zealand for me on September 14th
185 or 184?
185 - have had 184 for 5 weeks now. After a horrendous start to my new sub this year, where 3 issues in a row didn't turn up, its now arriving in NZ the week after UK subs get it.

Re: Subscriber Covers

If you're wanting to run votes to control what happens with the magazine then its probably worth considering whether you actually are interested in it anymore. Any major decisions would surely be based on what was happening with sales figures and subscriber numbers, not what a handful people on the ...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 184

I think there is a significant percentage of people who buy the mag simply because - We miss buying gaming mags The layouts can be nice Design work usually interesting There's so much regurgitating of content from the old (and let's face it, far better days) I'll keep buying, but the mag is 70% fil...

Re: Tracking lateness

Thats similar to my experience - everything was going fine with my previous subscription, despite the publisher change, but as soon as I renewed my sub from the new publisher's website (myfavouritemagazines), the mag stopped turning up. When I went in to the new website, the address they had put aga...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 182

Same thoughts here, I'd be gutted if the mag stopped. Having bought gaming mags since the 80s, this is the only mag out there that really appeals to me and has classic values and content. Unlike a lot of other mags (looking at you Edge), RG let the stories and the people in them do the talking inste...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 182

Loved the article on the Build Engine, nicely written and very thorough. That was always a minor gripe of mine on the prior Duke Nukem articles, where Ken Silverman wasn't interviewed or barely mentioned.

Re: Subscriber Covers

I thought the SF cover was one of the best covers they've done - the artwork was so good that removing all the extra text stuff they normally include gave it room to breathe and really shine.

Re: RE: Free Subscription Incentives

I've been buying online and/or subscribing for over 10 years now and the price hasn't ever increased? Its actually 25% cheaper now to buy single issues through Future (if you want the non-subscriber covers), than it was at Imagine. The whole reason I subscribe is because the mag is just so good and ...

Re: From The Forum issue 183 - Tetris: Best puzzler ever?

From a purity point of view, yes it is, however I personally prefer Puzzle Bobble, as it has a similar can't-put-it-down feel, and the added characters and graphics give it a bit of extra visual flair.
