Re: Retro Gamer Issue 107 feedback thread

Craig - I'm not sure what other readers think of more technical articles, but I love them to bits - finding out how the developer got the hardware to do things no-one thought it could makes for brilliant reading IMO. Note that Night Mission Pinball was released on the PC also - I played that to deat...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 107 feedback thread

Other Apple II coders with great stories to tell about getting the machine to do things it supposedly couldn't would be John Romero and Warren Schwader.

I would love to have a big interview with Bill Budge and his Apple stuff - please please please Darren green-light this!

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 107 feedback thread

@DreamcastRIP - I'm not a Ninety fanboi - I'm a PC fanboy - I would love it if the magazine was mainly PC and Amiga coverage. The reality of the situation is what I was trying to point out - have you ever noticed that the Nintendo themed covered RG's always sell out quickly in the Imagine Shop, wher...

Re: wii U

I can see it do around 70-80 million over the next five years. It might not get the pre-recession casual explosion-numbers of the Wii, but I can see it having a higher attach rate. Why? - the Wii already had the same attach rate as the PS3 (over 8 games per console sold), and is just 1 below the X3...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 107 feedback thread

Dreamcast RIP - is it awfully uncomfortable for you when someone points out that 19 of the top 20 selling console games of all time are from Nintendo? (http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/) Darren - are you able to divulge what percentage of the RG sales are street sales vs the rest (online, iPhone, subs...

Re: REtro Gamer Issue 107

What a cracking looking issue - some of the design/layout work looks brilliant, and an awesome spread of features - can't wait to read the Apple, David Crane, Robotron, Kane 1/2 features (amongst others). As a side-note has (sorry for being off topic) is everyone here aware of the absolutely atrocio...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

What about an In the Chair with one of the Bitmap Bros, or a company profile on the Bitmap Bros. I would love to hear some of the techie bits and challenges they faced when creating Xenon, Speedball, Gods, Chaos Engine etc - also some more details on working with Bomb the Bass.

Re: Official Feedback Issue 105

@Crispybacon - I'm in New Zealand, and just order individually each month (in lieu of having a subscription after all the horror stories I've read on here) - and I ordered my 105 on Monday 23rd July, and it arrived 3 days later in NZ. Chances are yours might be missing, seeing as it would've used th...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

Another one, that echoes what others have mentioned, would be the 1990s Shareware scene - particularly Scott Miller and Apogee and the Epic Megagames crowds - the stuff they did changed the industry - and was a brilliant time to be a gamer (compared to the cookie cutter commercialism that is rampant...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

Hi Darran - I would love the following interviews: Bill Budge - all time gaming legend and theres barely anything on the web about him. I would love to hear about the stuff he did with Electronic Arts in more techie detail. Ken Williams - Sierra Online has been completely missed by your magazine exc...

Re: Much more DOS and old PC gaming coverage please!!

@Jagfest_UK - for those who grew up outside of Europe, DOS gaming was huge in the 80s and 90s, and was far bigger than the Spectrum or Amstrad. Where I grew up it was C64 and PC all the way. The number of PCs used for gaming in the US was huge during the latter half of the 80s. The PC has an amazing...
