Chris Roberts (Wing Commander, FreeLancer) kickstarter

Just letting people know that Chris Roberts has made a stunning return to the games industry, with a Kickstarter for an ambitious Space Sim project. So far he has raised $2.7 million (including a personal website and Kickstarter) , and after private investment is hoping for $20 million. The game its...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

Speedball 2 would be brilliant. Chaos Engine is one of my fav all time games, would love anything on that (probably a longshot given what you guys have said about difficulty talking to them). I loved how the Bitmaps did awesome PC conversions of their Amiga/ST games (unlike a lot of other devs of th...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

A Turrican making-of was already done, way back in issue 21. Ah ok - will have to look at my Load #1 DVD and have a read! (didn't start buying actual issues until around #31). Replace that request with some making's of for the Bitmap Bros games, or some kind of big interview with the Bitmap Bros, o...

Re: 16Bit game coverage

I live on with the dream that RetroGamer will find some good writers who can cover the 80s/early 90s PC industry - where I grew up, it was either C64 or PC, and the PC, even throughout the 80s has a very rich retro history that has been largely untouched by RetroGamer. I however, love reading all th...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

Some others that have sprung to mind for me lately that I'd love to see: 1. Making of the Rogue Squadron trilogy. 2. Manfred Trenz interview or making of Turrican. 3. PC Shareware article - the Amiga one was great, a PC one could be even better given the modern games industry was pretty much built o...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 107 feedback thread

I just got issues 106 and 107 in the post, and they are brilliant - the best for a while, just about every article was a must read for me.

Re: Questions for Ron Gilbert & Tim Schafer re SCUMM

Why didn't you do a Star Wars SCUMM game?

Sierra was your major competitor - was there any pressure on you to beat their sales figures?

What adventure games inspired you?

Re: From the forum issue 108

For me its Blood Money on the PC. Psygnosis were one of the few British software houses that consistently released PC versions of their 16-bit games, and Blood Money was a cracking shooter, with great power-ups, a shop system and cool bosses.

Re: Are you are most fanatical Retro Gamer reader?

This is pretty subjective, and also it looks a little desperate people trying to outdo each other with how many issues they have bought. Also, claiming that subscribers are better somehow doesn't stack up - there are a lot of people who buy the magazine every month off the website, who aren't subscr...

Anyone played RE Revelations on the 3DS? Is that decent or an abomination too?

Craig - I'm not sure what other readers think of more technical articles, but I love them to bits - finding out how the developer got the hardware to do things no-one thought it could makes for brilliant reading IMO. Note that Night Mission Pinball was released on the PC also - I played that to deat...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 107 feedback thread

Other Apple II coders with great stories to tell about getting the machine to do things it supposedly couldn't would be John Romero and Warren Schwader.

I would love to have a big interview with Bill Budge and his Apple stuff - please please please Darren green-light this!

@DreamcastRIP - I'm not a Ninety fanboi - I'm a PC fanboy - I would love it if the magazine was mainly PC and Amiga coverage. The reality of the situation is what I was trying to point out - have you ever noticed that the Nintendo themed covered RG's always sell out quickly in the Imagine Shop, wher...

Re: wii U

I can see it do around 70-80 million over the next five years. It might not get the pre-recession casual explosion-numbers of the Wii, but I can see it having a higher attach rate. Why? - the Wii already had the same attach rate as the PS3 (over 8 games per console sold), and is just 1 below the X3...
