Re: The ridiculously cheap price of used games

Went to place in my town that was selling off PSP games. They all looked new. Sticker said 49p on them all.
Took them to the till, and was told it was buy one, get one half price. Result!

Good time to sell collections?

I know the price of collections can go up and down, but I wondered if the market is good at the moment.

I have most of the UK clamshell NGPC games, some of which are quite rare.
I don't really need to sell but they are sat doing nothing.

One Issue Magazine - Did I dream it?

The memory is now vague... Late 80's or early 90's I went into WH Smith. There, on the shelves was the first issue of a new multi-format magazine, by a publisher I had not heard of. It was cheap in price, even for the time, maybe £1.49. It had a glossy cover and was about 100 pages, with most review...

PSP Emus Revisted

So, dug out my old PSP-2000 (still looks great). Back in the day, I seem to remember emus needed a jailbroken system or a special battery? Nowadays, is it possible just to download emu onto desktop, then onto memory card, then add roms (I own the games obviously)? Emus I'm interested in: Gen/MD, Sne...

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

Bored today.

Jarre's magnum opus? (from 1984) Ethnicolor used for Captain Blood game.

Listen to all of it if you can. If not forward to 7 minutes in, turn to full volume and marvel.

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

Track 14 is on Youtube here, but may get taken down. Anyway, 8-bit noises for me come in at 1.27 and really kick in at 3.20.

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

Sorry about opening another thread, I will use this one instead. Oxygene 3 this is about. New album out today. Anyway, this is what I posted: I think some who love 8-bit music will get a kick out of a couple of the tracks on Jarre's new album. It doesn't really sound like the original Oxygene to me,...

Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene 3 (Parts 14 to 20)

I think some who love 8-bit music will get a kick out of a couple of the tracks on Jarre's new album. It doesn't really sound like the original Oxygene to me, but Jarre has gone for a minimalistic sound and has used lots of retro sounds in there, especially on parts 14 and 16, but the album has high...

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

That clip is nothing like I've heard from Jarre, and I'm borderline obsessed.

I did find this on Youtube though, and found it amusing.

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

I know a couple of people liked Teo and Tea, but hardcore fans hated it and the music press ripped it to shreds (apart from some dance mags that loved it). I listened to it again recently and yeah a couple of tracks are decent (Vintage being the best), but it's still pretty poor imo. Glad someone li...

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

Yeah I love Zoolook as well. He sampled about 25 languages which afaik is still the most extensive use of fairlight sampling to this day. Strangely I think Magnetic Fields is his weakest album (apart from Teo and Tea, which Jarre fans block from memory). The China Concerts are brilliant (he was the ...

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica (Vol1) Collaboration Alb

And for no apparent reason I'm going post what I think is JMJ's best track. The wonderful Ethnicolor, which used Fairlight sampling way back in 1984. If you get bored (surely not!) of the atmospheric first part, forward to 6min 55 secs for the amazing second part. Play it loud or with good headphone...

Re: Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene 3 Dec 2016

I think someone has given the old boy some vitamins. After a decade or so of not much output, he's releasing his 3rd album in 18 months. This time, the third and final Oxygene album. He has played a track from it at recent UK concerts. And I think it sounds good. (and the visuals are great). Here it...
