Re: shmups
Seeing those two games next to each other has made me realize that we may never see a shmup as manly as Ketsui again.

Re: New Strider announced
I don't know. In the gameplay video he gets hit loads but then his health just regenerates. Looks kind of sloppy.

Re: How are you coping................
It's been pretty crazy. Went to an air show a week or two ago which involved sitting in the sunshine literally all day. No clouds, no shade, and ice cream was extremely expensive! But even that did not prepared me for last Thursday. By some folly we had decided to play some tennis in the park, but i...

Re: Steam Summer Sale
Only game I've got so far is Fallout New Vegas for £3.74.
Tempted by the Tomb Raider games, though. Never played one so I'm not sure if it's wise to shell out for the collection. Can anyone recommend me one within the next hour?

Re: Who bothers with DLC?
Generally I don't. The Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and whatever DLC never really seemed to justify the price. The thing is I never want this stuff when I'm playing through the game the first time. The closest I came was Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I'd returned to the game and was hungry for a ...

Re: do sequels always = lack of originality
The first step into new territory is rarely going to explore its full potential and it may take a sequel to properly refine it and explore all its possibilities. One sequel I'm always impressed by is Majora's Mask. It added new and interesting mechanics that make it one of the most creative entries ...

Re: Dragons Dogma - Dark arisen
Guilty as charged  But having beaten Daimon I'm gonna take a break. There is still lots to do (just remembered that free DLC!) but I feel like I've seen a proper first run of it through and I might get burned out again if I force the matter. Terrific game, though. Am I right in thinking there w...

Re: Dragons Dogma - Dark arisen
Got to what must surely be the last boss of Dark Arisen. But I decided to give some request board quests a go and see if there was aught I missed in the areas. Then I decided I wanted to be a mystic knight again for some reason which lead to a quest for better gear. The immortal stuff seems to do th...

Re: Dragons Dogma - Dark arisen
Bitterblack! Oh a Cockatrice? Cool, I got this. A few hobgoblins here and there nothing to worry... wait why did the camera just OH GOD WHAT IS THIS GIANT WOLF LET GO To sum up an incredibly long battle: complete confusion ensued upon the entrance of the wolf and this distraction quickly lost me two...

Re: Most difficult games you ever played?
Going to have to parrot Misery. I've beaten Mushihimesama Futari on God mode but Ultra towers over it like a mountain. I also have to mention Pink Sweets . A legitimate 1CC of that without the infinite lives trick or on the 360's ver 1.00 mode is extremely tough - then there's Harder and Extended (2...

Re: Dragons Dogma - Dark arisen
I decided to see go into NG+. There were a few nooks and crannies of Everfall I'd not explored but I was getting frustrated trying to jump to them. Still digesting the ending but I must say I did enjoy the story quite a lot: certain cut scenes and set piece moments were really epic and the whole thi...

Re: Dragons Dogma - Dark arisen
Got back into this recently. Level 58 now. I kind of lost momentum with it because I was being a bit obsessive about finding quests, but I ended up just wandering around not doing anything. Then I decided to get on with the main story: I killed the dragon, which was an epic fight, killed the hydra i...
