Re: The 8-bit GAME COMPARISON Thread

Ignoring the Super Hangon text at the top (which may have been a modification in the crack of the game), there was another Enduro Racer in development for the C64. http://www.gtw64.co.uk/Pages/e/Shots_Enduro.php We're still trying to work out if it was done before the final version that was released...

Additional findings on the earlier version of Wizball have just been added, as well as a fixed single filed version of Microprose Soccer V1 thanks to Adam Morton.

Re: Games that weren't findings

Over the past few months, GTW64 has been working with C64.com to preserve a series of games after working on the disk collection of Darren Melbourne. 25 or so disks were painstakingly preserved by C64.com, and GTW64 trawled through these and found many a lost game. We present a good selection of the...

Re: Jukka Tapanimaki (Zamzara C64 Programmer).

Had brilliant fun playing Zamzara as a kid - experienced as a covermount game on Commodore Format, but it was sold from the start as a budget title for £2.99, which is just amazing. Could have easily paid full price for the game. It seems that Jukka spent a lot of time refining his games, and they w...

Re: Replay Expo 2011 - Official Thread (inc name badge reque

I was a bit worried about the 5 hour train journey up, but it was completely worth it! .... A fantastic weekend, and would recommend it to anyone considering going next year if things happen again. The venue was superb, plenty of games to play - the arcades were a highlight (getting to play Robotron...

C64 game hacks

Just in case anyone is interested, but in the past 6 months or so - Vinny Mainolfi of C64endings.co.uk has been doing a lot of hacking with various old C64 games to try and inject some new life into them in the way of "crazy hacks". As well as the usual features to have infinite lives/time etc, ther...

Re: Your thoughts on Zzap 64!

A truly fantastic magazine! Retro Gamer is probably the closest we'll ever get to it these days in terms of the anticipation and build up to each issue. The quality of the reviews was brilliant and Oli's artwork throughout was superb. I also really enjoyed the covertapes towards the end, being one o...

Bought my tickets the other day - coming up from Dover in the early hours on Saturday morning with the missus and daughter :)

Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting some arcade gaming in, and also possibly helping TMR out on the Old School Gaming stall if he needs any.

Re: Which Amiga shareware games did you enjoy playing?

Most of the above already mentioned (Cybernetix in particular), but I was quite fond of a sort of 2D "Head Over Heels" type game called "Mr and Mrs". Used to waste hours playing it after picking up from an issue of Amiga Power... http://fgasking.wordpress.com/2009/12/28/retro-byte-mr-and-mrs-amiga/ ...

Re: Covertape classics

Another which I can't place which magazine it appeared on. Power Drift first level demo - It made me rush out and but it. I'm pretty certain that was Zzap! but don't quote me on that. Also remember expecting the Katakis demo and instead getting Time Tunnel, an old US Gold arcade adventure (quite go...
