Re: Console that plays games from 11 differnt machines! Sort

I played around with one of these machines in japan, almost bought one. the demo pod was playing a NES game (ninja kid or NK 2 I think it was) the joypad that came with the console was good enough, the premium version let you use your old pads through an add on. it did output HDMI. there where quite...

Re: shmups

recently got Sonic wings 2 on AES, it's cool - I really like some of the bosses (the first one looks really cool) and the multiple fighter planes, some of the backgrounds are a little bland, some are great. gameplay is tight and feels well balanced, It doesn't feel unfair. not sure if I prefer it ov...

Re: When did you find out...

I always thought regional name changing was odd - when I first got into Mame this became apparent. Gryzor was actually called Contra everywhere else, ditto Nemesis and Gradius. they were loads of games i'd never heard of and eagerly downloaded, only to be greeted by x'ain d sleena or gladiator going...

Re: Nintendo NX Reveal Coming Tomorrow!

i'm going to get one. Nintendo haven't let me down on the game front on any generation of consoles. they release enough games for the amount of time I have to play them, and they're usually at least fun, sometimes excellent and occasionally peerless. don't care what the graphics chips are etc. Ninte...

Re: Post a classic game box cover

that golden axe 2 one is by boris Vallejo - if you like that sort of thing image search his name on google and get ready to be assaulted by a veritable ocular orgy of dragons and scantily clad women.

he did a few megadrive covers if I remember rightly.

Re: Power-Ups that make a game harder

The torch in ghosts n goblins is crappy, but really useful in ghols n ghosts on level 4 and the first half of level 5. Green or yellow bullets in ultimate tiger are bad news.

Re: Issue 159 awesome cover

shame that, combined with the fact the poor guy had no memory of a lot of it due to illness - must of been a difficult one to write. the rest of the issue is pretty good too, history of codemasters was really interesting. not sure about the NES piece though - it was caught somewhere between advertor...

Re: Thoughts On Retro Gamer Ultimate Guides

I like the ultimate guides, i enjoy seeing nice sprite work printed up at a large scale and reading about other less famous games in a series (for instance i knew nothing about the Pang sequels so found it useful). covering the conversions to other formats is also interesting. the only thing i don't...

Re: From The Forum Issue 160 - Gamecube

wow 15 years. a Canadian colleague bought me one over before the official UK release with star wars and luigis mansion, it absolutely blew me away (the consoles were so small, even boxed he had about four in his luggage to flog to people at work) and they were dirt cheap to boot, about £100. eventua...

Re: Issue 159 awesome cover

if this is the feedback thread...
the streets of rage 2 article was a bit light on developer input I thought, considering it was a making of.... haven't read the whole issue yet but there have been some strong ones recently, hopefully this will keep the run up.

Re: films on a tablet- solve my confusion please

if you want to rip dvds you own, I recommend win x dvd ripper (which you can get for free) - some of the other free dvd ripping software is incredibly clunky and slow (I tried a couple that were awful), oh and I use vlc player app for my kindle. Just make sure when you rip you do it at a suitable re...

Re: Nintendo releasing a new NES !

just pre-ordered mine with a second controller. never had a NES or any interest in it even back in the day, curiosity got the better of me. also - looks collectable as f**k so it was a bit of a punt if they become scarce and if I don't like it I could probably shift it on quick, but also lots of bi...
