Re: The Game Gadget

Just read the rather scathing review in Gamestm, for anyone who has not seen it, I particularly liked the amusing timeline they put at the bottom of the piece, with the title 'To be this bad takes...about six months' before listing the various broken promises and missed deadlines, in chronological ...

Re: The Game Gadget

I look forward very much to reading the GameGadget review in GamesTM next time I'm in WHSmith... or maybe in the next issue of RG if it makes it in time. :D I wonder if the GameGadget website will now be updated to reflect GamesTM new view!! Afterall, they are credited on the GG website with the quo...

Re: Whats the difference between red and black nintendo stri

Are all *new* games sealed though :?: I saw a shelfull of 'Metroid: Other M' in Asda at the weekend. All were supposedly new, however, none were sealed in cellophane which seemed a tad strange!! Anyway, not only were the cases all really scabby, but there was actually a used copy in the replay secti...

Re: Subscriptions Queries

I've seen it for a few days near me. They finally appeared in the wild yesterday in these parts (North). So that's a replacement sorted. :) I can't make a habit out of this though... having to repurchase because my subscriber copy is trashed not only defeats the purpose of having a subscription, bu...

Re: Whats the difference between red and black nintendo stri

Forgive my ignorance, but do all *new* factory sealed Wii games have the nintendo red/back tearaway security strips on the shrinkwrapp, or are some just wrapped in bog standard shrinkwrapp (with no security strip) :?:

Re: 'retro' films you think people should see...

I'll sidestep the usual Hollywood blockbusters and throw in a couple of B-Movie curveballs. :D > > How to Make a Monster (2001) Since this is a forum concerned with retro gaming, my first choice is perhaps rather apt!! May I heartily recommend the B-Movie (and much overlooked classic :) ) 'How to Ma...

Re: Subscriptions Queries

Looks like I'll be Retro Gamer hunting with the masses in WHSmith come Monday!... I guess subscribers got the latest issue of RG before it went on general sale this time :!: I've been looking around Tesco and WHSmith for a replacement RG #104 for a couple of days... but alas, no sign of it (only RG...

Re: The Game Gadget

... i was under the impression that it would be open source and you had the option of running whatever emulators on it you wanted Not sure how you came to have that impression, Lettuce? The gg has, to the best of my knowledge, never been marketed as such and RG magazine itself had a news story on i...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

I respect your eventual honesty in admitting having based what you said "on the words of the pirates themselves". I'm also well aware of some of the online locations where some of these guys still meet today. Eventual honesty ......? You make it sound like I intentionally misled/deceived in the fir...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

... Also, given that many of the guys involved in piracy had some serious programming skills and made no money from their illegal activities ... You sure about that? I'll admit my statement was based only on the words of the pirates themselves (they can still be found on retro computer forum...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

[*]I'd also like to see an exploration of piracy in the 16-bit software era (Atari ST & Amiga). Covering legendary (& infamous) cracking groups such as Automation, Medway Boys, Pompey Pirates etc etc... I personally wouldn't wish to see such scum receive any attention whatsoever in Retro Gamer . I ...

Re: The Missing Retro Gamer features

what about censorship in the 80s cover refrence to computers and films maybe or erotic video games, especially the ones from Japan would make for some great reading or one on Public domain software , this was huge in the 90's for both Atari St and Amiga and as far as i know has never been cover. .....
