Re: Point blank/Time crisis

I loved both games in the arcades. I'm a bit ignorant but is it possible to play those games on PS2 using a flat-screen HDTV, using a gun? I live in a studio so I don't want to give up space for a CRT TV. I don't know if I can buy a specific gun that will work with modern TV's.

Re: The Best GBA games

I'm very much looking forward to that feature. I have 25-30 DS games and none of them that I am very fond of is NOT a remake of a SNES, arcade, or whatever game. I love having portable versions of classic console games. Who knows perhaps after reading that feature I'll discover an original game that...

Re: Any still play azure dreams?

There was also a Game Boy Color version. I plan to collect that game eventually as I'm a big fan of roguelikes. Not sure if the OP meant the GBC or PS1 version (6-year-olds played PS1 games?) but just thought I'd throw that out.

Re: Issue 92 Feedback Thread

I just got my issue in the States. I especially liked the U.N. Squadron coverage. The game sort of inspired my screen/login name and seeing a cartridge for $3 in a used records store made me start collecting SNES games again last winter.

Re: River City Ransom 2

RCR was a decent brawler that I need to pick up for my NES collection eventually. I'm glad to hear members from the original Technos developers are included. I hope RCR2 doesn't try to modernize itself... just keep its 2D roots.

Re: Pilotwings

The SNES original was a great, great game. Lots of replay value with trying to get better scores and achieve bonus stages. The only bad thing about it is that you can't bypass the helicopter mission after Level 4 to get to more flying lessons on Level 5. The first heli mission wasn't that bad but th...

Re: Final Fantasy Red Mages

I have used Red Mages because I like to fight more than use spells so with R.M.'s I can use their fighting early on and have at least some spells for later in the game. I believe I completed FFI using a Fighter, Black Belt, R.M., and Black Mage. I fight whenever possible because I always worry about...

Re: Nes Max. Power in the palm of your hands.

I've never gotten around to getting one, but the curved d-pad (or whatever) is supposed to reduce left thumb blisters so is best suited for games like "Ice Hockey".

Re: From the forum Issue 93

Great question. There were many great games, but top on my list would have to be Star Fox (aka Star Wing). The "stage select" kept replay value high and I always felt drawn into the action to the point that I was physically dodging incoming laser fire with my body! It's criminal that Star Fox 2 was ...

Re: Star Raiders 360/PS3

I don't get it. In my Atari 2600 game I piloted a spaceship, engaged in dogfights, and protected bases. Why do I pilot a... mech?... and complete stupid missions? Games like these make me thankful for try-before-you-hate demos.

Re: GBA SP 101 vs 001 comparison

I've been playing on my new Micro a lot more than my SP due to better display and (sometimes) control, depending on the game. I had no idea there was a better version of the SP (101). I just checked mine and it is 001 -- CRAP! I better look for a secondhand 101 then. It would be very nice to have th...

Amazing Penguin for the Game Boy. I have it, not a bad action/puzzler (more action really).

Re: Charity Shops

Finding cheap and halfway decent (or better) games is the ONLY reason I tag along with my girlfriend to secondhand stores. I had several good finds, such as Moon Patrol for the Atari 2600 @ $2 and Ice Hockey for the NES @ $3.

Re: Sony - Time to Quit the Video Games Industry?

I'll be honest, this thread was started by someone who is obviously a Dreamcast fan. Sega fans would love to see Sony suffer for driving Sega away from consoles, but I teach in a high school and I would say that PS3 and XBox 360 are dead even in popularity among my students. When I was a kid the maj...

Re: Can anyone recommend a good 2D platformer for the PS3?

I second Little Big Planet. I don't play many 2D platformers, not with this high-end console anyway, but the game is relaxing fun.
