Re: UEFA Euro 2012

The spaniards p*ss me off. I can't help it, can't stand their play. Quite lucky tonight too... I hope that whoever wins tomorrow beats them on sunday. And there's a good chance... they won easily the two times they immediately took the lead (Ireland, France), in the other three matches (Italy, Croat...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 104

Microprose Soccer is fun and fast-paced, the sprites are excellent and there are so many great features - from the action replays to the thunder & lightning (which affects gameplay, making the pitch slippery). At the time there was not a better alternative on 8 or 16 bit. As I posted earlier in the...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 104

Didn't Kick Off 2 get high scores it didn't deserve as well? What's your point? This is still about the KO article, since Sensible Soccer had been quoted, and Micro Soccer (as being somewhat "copied" by KO) as well, well I think that if there's one game that truly was overrated was MS, and that KO ...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 104

And if there's a game that's overrated, it's Micro Soccer... a small, banal arcade footy with pretty graphics. Gold medal on ZZap? KO owing anything to it? Pleeeeeease. The C64 original of Microprose Soccer scored 90% (just good enough for a Sizzler award) in issue #46. Not sure where you get the G...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 104

Overall an interesting issue, quality material bar the article on Kick Off. We can argue all you want about the quality of the games, and I think most fans of the games (up to Goal!) would admit the games' faults and bugs, but I'd never consider it an overrated franchise. Games that were good were r...

Re: UEFA Euro 2012

Yes, I think Pirlo did that to put some pressure on the following pk takers, and to try to invert the flow, that was being good for England. And he did it. As for Hart, I think he's a decent goalkeeper overall. Better than most if not all the goalkeepers that England has deployed in the last 20 year...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Just finished Alan Wake's American Nightmare. Still watching the "Balance Slays the Demon" video. Awesome.
This is a videogame. Screw Nintendo and the Wii, Kinect, Move and all that s**t.

Re: Most important industry legends

I'd list Eric Chahi, too. And Chris Butler is on my list... not an innovator surely, but for how he managed to squeeze all the juice the C64 had. If every coin-op conversion had been made with such expertise...

Re: UEFA Euro 2012

Mh, now everyone's happy for the loss. Strange  That's an unusual interpretation of what has been posted. Ok, but one thing's for certain: should we lose to Germany on thursday nobody will hear me say "It's better this way, Spain/Portugal would have slaughtered us" Germany - Spain i...

Mh, now everyone's happy for the loss. Strange  And we're not favourites against Germany, but they won't tear us apart... they never did, probably never will. Bet? 8)

Re: UEFA Euro 2012

Yaaaaaaaaay 8) We deserved the win today, and succeeded despite Montolivo  With Germany it will be tough, but I don't think the Germans are happy to play Italy either... As for England, I expected them to be better honestly. Young team, true, come back in a couple of years, for now w...

Re: Health Packs ++

Well, sometimes regenerating health works fine (e.g. Alan Wake), but the good old health packs have a different taste, and can give more focus on strategy and reward good playing. As was already said, Tomb Raider is the first game that comes to mind, and some fps. But not many games... I loaded up S...

Re: Your Most Desirable 8-bit Micro?

A Commodore C16. It was my first computer and sadly sold it to fund the purchase of my C64 (which I did keep) Gutted I had to sell it as I managed to amass a large collection of games considering its unpopularity. Would love to own another just to get the nostalgia glands working. Same here, it's t...

Re: Xbox 360 place in gaming

I agree it's the best machine of this generation. Also thanks to Sony's faults and to Nintendo's policy. Several good exclusives, the best game pad out there, excellent online service. Sony will have to work hard to catch Microsoft, they're still taking advantage of the PS1 and PS2 glory. After a go...
