Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

What I'm pleased about is that those who've had a hands-on with it have said it is in roughly the PS4/Xbone bracket grunt-wise, which is good. I'd be a lot less happy paying 280 quid if it was a very slightly beefed up Wii U. Well, it's not quite PS4 level: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XzIZWO1q...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Personally I don't think £280 for the main console is too much over the odds, when you consider that the similarly Tegra X1-powered Pixel C goes from £399 upwards. Okay, it has a much more high resolution screen, but the Switch has controllers. There are serious question marks over the price of acc...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

As Nintendo phases out the 3DS over the next year or so I expect we'll see more games announced regularly. The big advantage of the Switch is that it removes the need for Nintendo to divide its teams between two formats, So although the launch line-up isn't all it could be I'm not anticipating the l...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Saw a Youtube video the other day which pointed out that Nintendo can use the failure of Wii U to their advantage with Switch. If they can have ports of SB Wii U, SM3DW, MK 8, Splatoon, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Maker ready on day 1 then Switch will have one of the best launch line-ups in history, with ...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

So basically it'll be a beast of a handheld but a bit behind the pack as a home console? Having seen some gameplay footage now I think it looks a bit less powerful than the Xbox One/PS4 but noticably better than Wii U, which is about where I expected. The key thing of course is games. For third part...

Re: The64 - Computer And Handheld Console

It would make more sense if the handheld could be docked in the keyboard for desktop use, rather than them being two seperate deviced sold seperately. If I want to play games on the go and at home on my TV I have to pay twice? Nah. If the price was right I might be tempted by the desktop version but...

Re: Your Proudest Gaming Achievement?

I think I was in the top 20 in the world at Geometry Wars Galaxies for a bit. It was years ago and the servers will have been turned off now so I can't check the exact position.

Re: Mario coming to phones, iOS first in 2016.

I'm confused as to why Nintendo are getting so much stick for this. 'Pay some money and get a game' is what we all expect, right? 'Download a game that says its free then wade through hundreds of adverts or wrestle with game mechanics designed cynically to encourage you to keep pumping in money' is...

Re: Mario coming to phones, iOS first in 2016.

Downloaded it. Played it for 5 minutes. Absolute garbage. Looks nice, but it's really not Mario like to play, just Mario bolted onto a game mechanic I dislike. There''s far better games of this genre on iOS... and importantly they don't cost 8 quid to play. Poor show Nintendo. Poor show. Well I thn...

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

Upcoming physical Wii U games: Minecraft Story Mode - The Complete Adventure (out today) Darksiders: Warmastered Edition (31 December 2016) Zelda Breath of the Wild (March/April 2017) Nothing else on the horizon except downloadable indie games. Some good news though... Pikmin 2 (Wii version) has ju...

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

Wii U releases are being cancelled all over the place and moved to Switch. Are Bloodstained and Darksiders still coming? After Shantae they're pretty much it for me, the only game I'm interested in after that is Zelda, and I may well get that on Switch instead unless that version is massively delaye...

Re: Nintendo NX Reveal Coming Tomorrow!

I like the switch from what I have seen, I think this should be more successful than wii u. it's ticking all the right boxes so far, and audiences seem much more receptive and positive than with the wii u unveiling. I think the video released on Thursday shows Nintendo have learned a lot from Wii U...

Re: Nintendo NX Reveal Coming Tomorrow!

On the power question, I'm expecting a sizeable step up from Wii U. People like Bethesda and From Software wouldn't be signed on if they thought the machine would struggle with the games they put out. I'd expect it to be roughly in the same ballpark as the 'stock' Xbox One and PS4, but slightly behi...
