Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Despite the consoles very successful launch, still no big game announcements from the major publishers which is odd. Capcom have even ruled out a port of RE7 despite convincing Ninty to beef up the machine's specs specifically so it could run that engine. Maybe we'll hear something at E3.

Re: Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Played a couple of hours of the Switch version, mainly just wandering around the starting area (looking for raw meat to make a specific recipe to acquire a specific item). I like it a lot so far - combat is very fun - the powers you get let you approach combat a number of different ways (such as us...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Picked mine up at midnight along with about 50 other people from Game in York. Really nice system, feels like very good build quality. Played a couple of hours of Zelda - the game looks great on the TV and off, the controller is reasonably comfortable given that its really just a shell that you clip...

Re: Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

I've got it on pre-order for the Switch, will be picking it up at midnight on Thursday. I did agonise about buying the Wii U version instead given that its likely to end up as something of a collectors item but since the Switch apparently has a bit more grunt under the hood than the Wii U that's lik...

Re: VIDEO GAME MARKET 3 - Doncaster Dome - 5th March 2016

I went, enjoyed myself and picked up a cheap Famiclone system which is something I'd been meaning to do for a while.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

So, let me get this straight. You have to pay a PSN/XBL style sub to play online and all you get is a one month rental of a game and none of your existing e-shop stuff comes over. Microsoft lost an entire generation over less. Can you bring XBLA games you purchased on the 360 over to the Xbox One? ...

Re: The ridiculously cheap price of used games

I've tried where possible to avoid used games of late. For two reasons: one, I'm a bit morally conflicted about the creators of a game being cut out of a significant amount of the revenue it generates. And two, it's a total lottery what you get. That copy of Mario Galaxy 2 or GTA V for a fiver might...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

You technically can transfer your WiiWare and Wii VC games to the Wii U. It's a lot more time and hassle than it should be, but you can do it. I'm hoping they come up with something more streamlined for Switch.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

You know what? If EA give it a shot, produce a decent game of FIFA and it doesn't sell, then they can walk away from the system with their heads held high and I won't blame them. My worry is they'll do what they did with Wii U - release a botched port of a year old version, then blame the consumer f...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Just pre-ordered mine from Game with a copy of Zelda. Can't wait! They'd already sold out of the red and blue version (fine with me since I only wanted the grey one) which seems like an encouraging sign. More encouraging still was the fact that the person in front of me in the queue and the two guys...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Personally I don't think £280 for the main console is too much over the odds, when you consider that the similarly Tegra X1-powered Pixel C goes from £399 upwards. Okay, it has a much more high resolution screen, but the Switch has controllers. There are serious question marks over the price of acc...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

What I'm pleased about is that those who've had a hands-on with it have said it is in roughly the PS4/Xbone bracket grunt-wise, which is good. I'd be a lot less happy paying 280 quid if it was a very slightly beefed up Wii U. Well, it's not quite PS4 level: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XzIZWO1q...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

As Nintendo phases out the 3DS over the next year or so I expect we'll see more games announced regularly. The big advantage of the Switch is that it removes the need for Nintendo to divide its teams between two formats, So although the launch line-up isn't all it could be I'm not anticipating the l...
