Re: New psp e-1000

As I commented on Eurogamer, if this thing can be easily hacked it could be a decent portable emulator, depending on what you want to emulate :)

Although I'm still holding out hope that the Open Pandora lot will do something useful, although signs aren't hopeful.

Re: Popped my Dynasty Warriors cherry

The only game like this that I've played is Ninety-nine Nights. I found it a bit dull, to be honest. Anyone think it's worth persevering with? I quite enjoyed NNN, but some of the levels were far too long. I personally though its brand of slaughter would have been better suited to a more intense ar...

Re: Odd gaming genres

Oh dear, you ask somebody not to use straw men arguments and this is what you get: What you actually said was that your list of gameplay elements makes all the games and genres we play essentially the same. This is as stupid as saying that because all of us use the same five senses to experience the...

Re: Odd gaming genres

You don't usually collect obstacles. Look, you're obviously in love with your own theory and I can't be arsed. It's off topic. It's uninteresting. Try it on somebody else tomorrow. I really don't see why you're being so passive-aggressive about this. It's clearly on-topic, given the OP asked about ...

Re: Odd gaming genres

Just for fun, try dissecting games you play according to my seven categories above. Do you agree or disagree with them? Have you found another category? Well I disagree that just the seven things you list can define every game. And the things you list are so ambiguous that extra categories are easy...

Re: Odd gaming genres

I've been thinking about this and after some pondering I wondered if the games mentioned so far are really different genres or just the same games we're all used to in a different dressing. To expand on that, lest anyone thinks I've gone insane, if you divest any game of its graphics, sounds, music ...

Re: What do you use for mobile gaming?

Do graphics matter to anyone when it comes to portables? I think the most important thing about graphics - and this has always been true, regardless of platform or period - is that they have to be appropriate to the game they're featured in. So if you were developing an ultra-modern, ultra-realisti...

But the comparison on the 360 is XBL Indie Games, not XBLA games. Most of which clock in at 80pts.
Fair point, although if you think of some of the older 400pt XBLA games there is some equivalence with some of the more "expensive" iOS and Android games.

Re: is the 3ds worth getting ?

You may not be able to compare a 59p game to a £40 space-marine shooter, but you can certainly compare them to XBLA and PSN titles. Often the 59p game will come out on top. Please tell me this isn't more of that "all downloadable games should cost 59p because they're 59p on the mobiles" crap. :roll...

Re: is the 3ds worth getting ?

What's interesting about smart phone gaming is just how well the mobile phone business model fits gaming: Firstly, the price of the hardware is obfuscated behind the monthly plan/subscription, so much so that many users think they're getting the handset for free. Secondly, there's no need for boxed ...

Re: is the 3ds worth getting ?

As i understand it, Nintendo made 3DS a lot harder to 'crack' (seen various cards letting you run DS games, but not 3DS games), wonder just how much impact this has had on hardware sales?.guessing Sony will have learnt something from PSP, PS3 hacks, so security should be 'better' with Vita, so will...

Am I remembering this incorrectly, but in FtB didn't you have to crouch to fire?

In Cold Blood sequel?

In between George Stobbart's second and third adventures, Revolution released the frankly brilliant In Cold Blood . It might not have sold as well as the Broken Sword series - I'm sure the first Broken Sword was the inspiration behind Dan Brown's Da Vinci code ;) - but it was a very decent spy-story...

Re: Flashback QFI - Best Version?

The MD version for me. If only for the MD's joypad. I played it again recently - I actually bought it on release for the MD - and it's a lot buggier than I remember, with some really dodgy collision detection and passable walls.

This chap's hobby sounds more like an addiction to me, and not a particularly healthy one either if it's replacing things like his career or personal life.
