Re: From the Forum Issue 90

Almost as soon as I'd got my Atari 800XL setup in 1985. Atari had launched the ST and there just wasn't the support in the UK for the 8-bit Ataris. I knew that the ST was the future (for me). Had to wait 3 years for one, though.

Still love me Atari 8-bits - all half dozen of them.

Re: XBLA Indie - your recommendations

Retrofit is one game I'd like to buy but as I have little time as the minute, it's pointless me buying any more games. Played the demo a while back and it's a pretty slick Galaga clone. Unfortunately it can be tricky to find anything truly decent. In issue 87, MS were accused of taking the yellow st...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Too busy writing a new take on a retro game to play much at the moment. But one game that's taking a fair bit of my time is Quadra on my Windows Phone. Tempted to write a version for the Vectrex if I get the chance. It's free, simple and thanks to the high score table, very addictive if you're as co...

Re: Top ten games you've *never* played

Spectrum
Booty - That was at top spot for an eternity but I've never played it, despite having a copy until recently.

Atari 8-bit
M.U.L.E. - No idea why.

Re: Stinkers you bought back in the day

Virus by David Braben on the ST. Bought it on the strength of one ridiculous review in ACE magazine that gave it 98%!! Then wished I'd read some rather more reasoned reviews
It remains the worst and most unplayable game I have ever bought.

Re: Name that game or console that you aspire to own

Let's face it, I'm an Atari fanboy through and through so I'd love to get my hands on an Atari 1200XL, a 1450XLD or a 5200. I'd kill for a TT or a Falcon.

Never been one for Nintendo or SEGA. They've always left me a bit cold. One non-Atari console I would love to own one day would be a PC Engine.

Re: Greatest ever Atari XL/XE games

Welcome to the forum! I only got my Atari XL as Dixons were selling them cheap and my dad bought one for me for £99 at Christmas. Many people will have tried the system through the excellent Atari Win emulator but as ever, if you didn't own it at the time, there is no nostalgia attached, I've very ...

Still possible if you missed the boat the first time around. It's the second coming for back bedroom programmers. 8)

Wish I was that quick, though.

Re: Greatest ever Atari XL/XE games

This has been a fascinating thread to read. But for my money, Dropzone stands above and beyond as the best A8 game of all time. There are a lot of people who like M.U.L.E (never played it myself in 25 years as an Atari 8-bit owner) and Fractalus, Elektraglide, etc ... but for me it's got to be Dropz...
