Re: Buying CD's

I bought Still Corners' new and previous album. Blissful dream pop. Tired of Tomorrow by Nothing - one of my favourite albums of the past 10 years. Wonderful alt-rock shoegaze. Penumbra by Barrens, an excellent ambient/post-rock/post-metal album. Heart & Soul by The Churchhill Garden, which includes...

Re: Home Computer Club (late 80s)

I didn't know about this club, but it's fun reading the memories. I was a member of Britannia Music Club for a short time, which was similar but for CDs. Though I think the CDs were often more expensive than in the shops if I remember rightly.

Re: What are you currently playing?

I started Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. I love the Studio Ghibli animations and Joe Hisaishi soundtrack, but the game has started to drag after 2-3 hours. I'll play on and see how I feel.

I also started Little Nightmares.

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

I bought a used New 3DS XL in October for £110 including a case and charger. It was mint condition apart from the inserts missing from the inside of the box, which led to the manuals getting a bit folded. I was still happy with it, though sort of wish I'd held out and paid a bit more for one of the ...

Re: Introduce yourself

hi i am RetroGamer from tamworth very into 8bit gaming and the heavy metal scene also like depeche mode (their new album "playing the angle" is their best work to date) A lot of my favourite cover songs are of Depeche Mode songs - they seem an inspirational band to cover. I also like a lot of their...

Re: Hot topic discussion

I'm 40. The Switch seems retro given the kind of games I'm enjoying on it. Retro is a big selling point for some of them, like Horizon Chase Turbo, CrossCode, Downwell and Full Metal Furies. Even Mario Odyssey is brilliantly retro in its nostalgia at times. Not only that, but all the AAA titles from...

Re: Metal Detectors.

I've been researching intensively both in magazines and online. From what I can make out, the machine i was given is a kind of £50 toy-grade item. Its a no-name analog device. I'd have to upgrade considerably before joining a club, I reckon. It'd be like taking an AT Games Megadrive to a hardcore r...

Re: Have you kept in contact with any of your school friends ?

In 2019, I went on a camping trip with a good old school friend I hadn't seen for around 20 years. He lives 5,000 miles away and was visiting the UK. We don't really keep in touch all that much but had a good time and will hopefully meet up again with less than a 20-year gap. I bumped into an old sc...

Re: Your 2020 in Gaming - Highs, Averages and Lows

Highs Nintendo Switch (my first new console in over 10 years if you exclude the SNES Mini). The quality and variation of local indie multiplayer games, many at ridiculous bargain prices (Switch but I think most are multiplatform): Death Squared, Hidden in Plain Sight, Full Metal Furies, Overcooked,...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I'm really getting into Full Metal Furies (£5 in the e-shop sale) - it's a superb action RPG with a depth I didn't realise it had at first. It's got to be the best co-op RPG I've played since Secret of Mana in the 90s and seems to be a bit of a hidden gem (single player doesn't lose anything). I lik...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

I picked up Gurumin 3D in the e-shop sale for £3. Also Severed, Art of Balance TOUCH! (a no-frills game but I really enjoyed the demo) and Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale. I also sort of accidentally bought Chrono Trigger! I landed on the eBay auction with 10 seconds to go, sort-of panic...

Re: what is your rarest retro item/or most favourite retro item?

Perhaps PAL Terranigma with the manual bought from a friend for £7 back in the 90s. Maybe I have a few rare SNES games looking at eBay prices.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

There seems to be a LOT of indie games on sale at the minute. Any recommendations for when they let me have a turn? I've enjoyed these games over the past week: Single or local multiplayer: Death Squared Full Metal Furies Local Multiplayer: Hidden in Plain Sight (easy pick up and play and great fun...
