Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

https://youtu.be/rf2wWrXe0V8 Another Partner Showcase aired today, most notable news being a date for Bravely Default 2, No More Heroes 1 and 2 launching today, and a demo for Age of Calamity right now. Considering I've just bought Bravely Second for the 3DS, I thought that titling was odd. Then I ...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

Virtues Last Reward is only £4 on the eshop for the rest of the month. I hadn't heard of this but it looks good, so I bought a physical copy from CEX for £6. Hope that helps. Very helpful, thanks again. I also thought it might be a good idea to check the barcodes online to check they match to the c...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

A New 3DS, which I guess can be considered retro now. It's the first time I've bought an old console (excluding the SNES mini) as I've owned my originals since new/near new. Games for it: GTA: Chinatown Wars The World Ends With You Professor Layton & the Lost Future Professor Layton & the Miracle Ma...

Re: Emulating Tetris Gameboy version on the Amstrad CPC 6128

The GameBoy actually has quite a decent sound system for what's generally seen as a quite primitive piece of hardware. You've got four channels: Two pulse wave (basically square wave of arbitrary width), white noise and DPCM for sample playback. Definitely! As proven in various live music performan...

Re: Favourite Football Management simulation?

I used to enjoy World Soccer League on the Amstrad CPC. I probably played Championship Manager 00/01 more than anything so that's my favourite, but maybe 01/02 was the best before the series became too in depth for me to enjoy it. 01/02 is legally available for free with updated leagues and squads. ...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

I'm currently debating whether to spend £45 on a used Solatorobo: Red the Hunter. It seems I've missed the boat on new/used prices for some games I'd like. I also hope to get Chrono Trigger. You have to be careful with used desirable DS games. There's some good fakes around, even boxed PAL games wi...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

I'm beginning to hate Argos. I thought I'd got Bowser's Inside Story & Bowser Jrs Journey for £19.99, but they won't ship and they're not in stock locally. This happens all the time for me with Argos now - they should sort their website out. Rubbish like this is why companies go out of business. I'm...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

Thanks - I'm not sure how I missed those on ebay (the cheapest "New" 3DS XLs without faults are £100, but cheaper than I thought). There's a seller with 6 new "New" 3DS XLs for £135, though their only feedback is as a buyer so I'm suspicious. I'll keep a look out! No luck with Argos - the 3DS consol...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Tenet . It was okay/good, which means it was disappointing. There were some great action scenes (including the weirdest fight I've seen), but I couldn't hear the dialogue often, in a film that was already difficult to follow. The regular exposition trying to explain things felt out of place. It see...

Re: 3DS Games discussion/Collecting thread

I was looking into buying a 3DS XL, and then Nintendo announced they were ending production of it. Now it's either sold out or has jacked up prices. Does anyone think prices will reduce again? My main reasons for getting one were for some of more the unique dual-screen games and 16-bit style RPGs ac...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Some of my favourites so far on the Switch are multiplayer (local as I don't have online). Here are my early impressions of what I've played, single and multiplayer (favourites in bold): Breath of the Wild - 9.5/10 - Wow. Cadence of Hyrule - 6 - I just can't get into this. Conduct Together - 8 - Cra...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Hi, regarding the Nintendo Switch I wanted to know if I am the only one having problems with my joycons. The joystricks sometimes bug and the buttons no longer respond ... Unfortunately it happened shortly after the end of the warranty. I have an issue where the right joy con (that came with the co...

Re: From The Forum Issue 211

It should be Secret of Mana because I enjoyed the multiplayer RPG experience with my brother so much. But, Terranigma is not only my favourite SNES game but my favourite ever game. A brilliant and immersive story, great gameplay, superb music, different and interesting worlds, great-looking bosses, ...

Re: 1980s game sales figures?

I remember reading sales figures in various articles about games companies and developers (including in Retro Gamer) but can't remember more specific than that.
