Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

My Switch, ordered from the Nintendo store in February, was due to arrive on 11th March. I understand there may be delays due to coronavirus, but there has been no communication from Nintendo at all. I've had issues with them since December, and their customer support is shocking. It's sad given I'v...

Re: Non-gaming music that reminds you of game music

I was just listening to Moments by Coldbones - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01bXNpiZ_F0 - paused it to watch the 198x trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywK4frAoPnc - and thought I hadn't paused the Coldbones track. They're not identical, but the similarities caught me out! Coldbones are t...

Re: From the Forum - Issue 205: Sega vs Nintendo

Nintendo. The only Sega exclusives I loved were Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage 2. The latter seems a bit clunky and dated now, whereas many SNES games feel timeless. Super Mario World, DKC2, Tetris Attack, Yoshi's Island, Contra III, Killer Instinct... The SNES also had the best RPGs - Terranigma and S...

Re: From the Forum - Issue 203: The Nostalgia Effect

I play games I loved while growing up and like discovering enjoyable games I haven't played on those systems. As for new games, nostalgia wouldn't be worth anything if the games (such as Breath of the Wild) weren't great. As I don't play games that often, one thing about picking up an old game I'm f...

Any interesting/funny/controversial lines that never made it to the game?

Retro Gaming Royal Mail Stamps

I like these: https://twitter.com/RetroGamer_Mag/stat ... 4214925315

I'm going to be buying a load of stuff via post in the hope I receive a package with a Dizzy stamp on it. I know you can buy them separately, but it'd be cooler to receive a franked one in the post!

Every moment spent on Battle Mode in Super Mario 3 because it's great fun.

Re: From The Forum Issue 202

Hyrule Field, Ocarina of Time. It seemed massive back then as the link between locations. It was a relaxing place to be - possibly the first time I thought that about a game? I loved the sunsets and sunrises, the music and how it became eerie at dusk. I loved galloping across it with Epona.

I've never been a big Tetris fan, but Tetris Attack is one of my favourite all-time games. How does Tetris 99 compare?

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200

It's the first time I've spent 20 minutes looking at a magazine cover...then more when I realised the image was the poster too.

I'm enjoying the issue so far, and it looks like one I'll read from cover to cover. I'm looking forward to the bedroom coders and gaming magazine issues.

Re: Ebay is flooded with repros. Can anything be done?

Is this something Retro Gamer could do an article about? Pressure and all that.

I bought a DVD from CEX recently, and on closer inspection, the cover is poor quality so maybe they printed that themselves. That's rather scammy if so.

Game of Thrones title music sounds uncannily similar to the original Settlers game.

I hear that. It reminded me of Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KhEMcJoNiA - but Settlers may be even closer.

Non-gaming music that reminds you of game music

This track reminds me of something from Perfect Dark and/or GoldenEye on the N64. I can't quite place it to a particular tune (anyone?), so although I haven't played either game for a couple of years, maybe it's more about the atmosphere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mv4biRn9bE I asked the guita...

Re: Buying CD's

An EP I loved disappeared off Spotify, iTunes etc. earlier this year. I wish I'd bought the MP3s.

I've recently bought CDs by Polish post-rockers Tides from Nebula and violin/piano duo AVA, both signed at gigs to make them that bit special.

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

There was a while where everything RareWare touched seemed to be gold. The reviews for Banjo Kazooie were great, so I was very excited, and this was after Blast Corps, Diddy Kong Racing and GoldenEye proved Rare was making awesome games for N64. Only, I didn't like Banjo Kazooie. I thought things mi...
