Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Thanks for the recommendations @pratty and @Havantgottaclue

I see Ni no Kuni is coming to Switch, so as a big Studio Ghibli and Joe Hisaishi fan, that's another 'must-have'...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I barely play games these days - only the occasional retro game or with family and friends when I visit. My only 'current' console is the SNES Mini. I'm thinking of buying a Switch for Collection of Mana, though it's too ridiculous to spend £300 just for an official translation and release of a 25-y...

We might go really old school and have separate scores for graphics, sound, playability etc for the home brew stuff.
I prefer this way of scoring for all games. Playability is always the most important in my opinion, and the graphics could look great in the magazine but not when seen in action.

Re: Questions for Mark 'Kick Off' Greenshields

Did you have to do much research in terms of watching childrens' programmes? Were you made aware of a bug in the Amstrad CPCs Sooty and Sweep where the game froze every time you entered the bathroom? How did you get the handling so perfect on Postman Pat's van? I played that game recently and it sti...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 192

I buy the magazine for the content, the cover for me isn't that important. People seem to put far too much weight on it when in reality I can't imagine they actually spend that much time looking at it. You don't know how 'sad' I am. I can look at a screenshot of Yoshi's Island anytime, which...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 192

I'm surprised the subscriber covers are still going given how much the negative feedback outweighs the positive on this forum. I much prefer (and love) the newsstand cover again this month: https://twitter.com/RetroGamer_Mag/status/1107617369604739072 (though the first replier to that Tweet prefers ...

Re: Game series that got progressively better

I'll exclude handhelds as I didn't own any. Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, then Terranigma Mario Bros & World to Mario 64 (6-game run). The Secret of Monkey Island up to The Curse of Monkey Island. F-Zero to F-Zero GX. Smash Bros, probably from the start to the Switch version (once I realised I did...

Re: Is the Wii U still worth getting in 2019?

A friend has all of the current consoles. I haven't been to his place since he had a Switch, but pre-Switch we spent most time playing on the Wii U, which implies it was best for pick up and play multiplayer. I played Mario Kart on the Switch recently and (aside from the absence of the battle mode) ...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 191

I loved my Amstrad CPC and friends did too. A lot of Amstrad versions were better than the Spectrum equivalents. How many games did you have for your Amstrad? I had about 50 original games and maybe 400 copies. I can't say that I felt missing out having an Amstrad. A good RGB monitor, a fair select...

Re: From the forum: 192

It's a tough choice between Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Amstrad and Wetrix on the N64. I'll go for Wetrix as I enjoyed playing it as recently as last year. It's the second best take on the Tetris formula (behind Tetris Attack on the SNES). Creating lakes to prevent your water meter filling up ...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

I was surprised by the f words too - it's not something I expected and hit the wrong side of balance in my opinion. If I had kids I would've considered Retro Gamer a "safe read" too - not that kids are the target market obviously. It's not like it's watering the magazine down by not including a few ...

Hi, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask but has anyone received their 8bitDo yet?
Mine arrived about 6-7 weeks after I subscribed.
