Currently replaying System Shock 2 in honor of it celebrating it's 20 year anniversary. Fantastic game.
I remember my brother coming home with a copy of that when it was new....

Re: PS3 - retro??

Later models are supposed to be more reliable. The earlier fat models are PS2 backwards compatible but had many issues with the hardware.
I think all PS3s can play PS1 games?

Escape from Butcher Bay is supposed to be good but I never tried it.

Made a brief appearance in Terminator 2, of course.

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced

I seem to recall the Geforce 4 MX (the MX being the budget model) basically was a Geforce 2.

Re: Konami Anniversary Collections

I just realised they missed Shin Contra. Can anyone think of any particular reason for them to leave it out?

Re: What are you currently playing?

Give me New Vegas or Fallout 3 over that any day of the week. It looks nice and all, but it is not an RPG at all compared to the previous games. Plus them removing the skill system, and the changes to the conversation system was just criminal. Even fallout 3 is a pretty lightweight RPG, rhough I th...

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced

I'd be surprised if there weren't home brew/mod remasters of Q2 out there already (on Quake 3 or Doom 3 engines for example). Interesting to see it, and fun looking at Quake 2 again after all these years. It was one of the first games I got after moving from consoles so I have a lot of affection for...

Re: Backwards Compatability

Glad to see the original FarCry and the semi-sequel Instincts Evolution/Predator, though I haven't played them since the OGXbox days and they've probably aged pretty badly.
Some interesting things elsewhere on the list. Shame not to see Project Gotham.

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced

To qualify that a bit further you could contrast it with the sort of graphical makeover that the likes of Resi 2 and the forthcoming Link's Awakening. They look like thoroughly modern games, albeit without ray tracing, rather than a very old one with some flashy effects tacked on. That would make f...

Re: Quake II Fully Ray Traced

I'm inclined to side with those that think it still looks very much like an old game tarted up. Still, in terms of illustrating what the possibilities for ray tracing are, it does the job; and that's something that Nvidia haven't been able to do with more modern games on current hardware without ta...

This is the first time ever I'd say Quake _looks_ agreeable. It was everything wrong with PC gaming. Raytracing does all kinds of good things to it.
Wow really? That's totally at odds with my opinion lol!
