Re: Hardships of modern gaming and Dead Or Alive 5

So it appears that DoA Ultimate gets a free upgrade to DoA Last Round? I'm totally okay with this, but it was quite the ordeal. I started off downloading the DLC it told me to download in the picture. I couldn't do it from the store front in the game and had to access add-ons in the Xbox dashboard. ...

Re: Hardships of modern gaming and Dead Or Alive 5

This COULD be an issue with this specific game and Team Ninja/Tecmo because the Dead or Alive 5 series and its DLC has always been a mess. It looks like it is trying to ask you to download stuff to help the game be compatible with the Last Round follow-up, possibly because the different revisions a...

Hardships of modern gaming and Dead Or Alive 5

Life is frustrating... I have had so many highs and lows with my Xbox 360 over the years. I absolutely LOVE the games that I have for it, but HATE the overall experience of playing them on the 360. I'm sure everyone has reminisced about the gaming of decades past where you bought a game, put it in y...

Re: From The Forum issue 183 - Tetris: Best puzzler ever?

With games like Columns, Puyo Puyo, Baku Baku and Zoo Keeper I don't know if I feel Tetris is the best puzzel game ever but its undoubtedly a classic. I can say with great certainty that, for me, Tetris DS is the best version of Tetris ever made. Its nintendo themed and has some amazing modes of pla...

Re: RE: Free Subscription Incentives

Presumably these are loss leader incentives to persuade people to move from news stand to subscription. It doesn't bother me in the slightest: Future provide you with the mag delivered a few days early at a lower cost than the newsstand. In return you provide revenue on a regular and predictable ba...

Re: From The Forum issue 157 - Reasons To Love The N64

I would have agreed with you, but a quick Google gives a fairly substantial list to prove he's right, at least with volume: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Nintendo_64_racing_games Which of these are actually good though? Hence my request for more info. I haven't had my N64 hooked up for qui...

Re: From The Forum issue 157 - Reasons To Love The N64

There are many reasons to love the N64. My top 2 reasons would be multiplayer goodness and arcade racers. The N64 with it's 4 controller ports, really fostered multiplayer gaming and brought it to a level I had never seen before. Also, like the PC Engine is synonymous with shooters, I find the N64 i...

Re: The Atari Lynx

The Lynx is an amazing system.

It was far ahead of its time and boasts some of the best Atari arcade conversions. It had a lot of great original titles as well, but I keep mine around for its port of Paperboy. Easily the best version of Paperboy outside the arcade.

Re: Clockwork Knight

Wow! I'm really surprised to see so many average to negative comments about these games. Granted Clockwork Knight was certainly rough around the edges, it had it's charm. Its pre-rendered sprites didn't mesh very well with the 3d backgrounds and as stated earlier the CG cut-scenes were low quality a...

Re: Quake-Sega saturn

I LOVE Saturn Quake! I like it much better than the N64 version (Although the N64 version is fantastic). Saturn Quake is best played with the analog controller and I'm willing to bet that a lot of the people that played it did not use one. It's not half as intuitive played with the regular Saturn pa...

Sticking strictly to Genesis/Mega Drive chip tunes; These are ones I simply can't get enough of. Re: Side Scrolling Shooters

You specifically mention "Side Scrolling" Shooters... So I'm going to assume you are opposed to overhead (vertical) shooters? There are some fantastic ones that you will miss out on, but there are plenty of side scrolling ones to keep you busy for a while. Here are some of my favorites: Gates of Thu...

Re: Paper Boy - The Conversions

Paperboy is one of my all time favorite arcade games. I can play it over and over and it never seems to get old. For me, the overall best version I have played would be the Atari Lynx version. I looks great, sounds great, controls great and the paper aiming feels just perfect. I also have the Atari ...

Re: A look at Gynoug.

This is easily one of my favorite shooters on the Genny! I love it! As said earlier, the graphics are awesome and a nice change of pace from the usual sci fi stuff. The music is fantastic and really sets the mood. There is a nice amount of variety in the levels and the bosses are huge and quite imag...

Re: What ever happened to...Shmups?

I recently picked up Raiden Fighters and Raiden IV for my 360 and I'm loving them. I could never get into the "bullet hell" shooters, but these Raiden games are just classic, good, old school, shooter fun! I also HIGHLY recommend the Nanostray games for the DS. They are VERY good and have awesome so...
