Re: Why the ZX Spectrum is better than the Commodore 64...

@joefish
Ok mate, I understand.
But please, can you find out any benchmark or something around the web and link them here?
I mean about this:

Re: Why the ZX Spectrum is better than the Commodore 64...

...Not exactly, you're talking about a 128K Spectrum with a disk drive grafted on that was released some five years after the original 48K machine. The equivalent to that isn't the C64 from 1987 because the design never changed, instead you'd need to compare it to a Commodore 128D (because that's g...

Re: Why the ZX Spectrum is better than the Commodore 64...

@Matt_B
That was only my trivialization (mine at all), I'm not so good in technical things. But I'm happy the same because today I discovered my Commie CPU is not so slower than the ZX but just different.
And I really love this debate since I was only a little child... I'm a romantic guy... :D

So, you think that "incomparable" means "equal" then? :lol:
Sorry, my english... :oops:
Cesare's title was: "6502 @ 1MHz and Z80 at 3,5MHz - what's the faster one?"
And the conclusion is there's not a winner in this battle.

Re: Why the ZX Spectrum is better than the Commodore 64...

@psj3809 He is "a very big name" here in Italy and he just doesn't "think", he "knows". I thought the whole point of his article was that he didn't know, as they weren't comparable. :wink: The point, if there really was one, was that well optimized code for one machine will run like a dog on the ot...

Absolutely.
But if you want to compare the two products you have to consider the technical specs.
If not, then we are all fanboyz! :lol:

Re: Why the ZX Spectrum is better than the Commodore 64...

@psj3809 He is "a very big name" here in Italy and he just doesn't "think", he "knows". And technically the Commie is better than Speccy like Amiga is better than AtariST. About the games both the C64 and the ZX have more than 20.000 titles, I'm sure there are many hundreds killergames for both. @me...

Re: Why the ZX Spectrum is better than the Commodore 64...

Hello mates, I think this thread has to live again!!! I recently found an italian article by Cesare di Mauro (the coder behind "Fightin' Spirit" for the old Amiga) about the ZXSpeccy and the Commie CPUs. It's here: http://www.appuntidigitali.it/2774/e-piu-veloce-un-6502-a-1mhz-o-uno-z80-a-35mhz/ It'...

Re: The Great Giana Sisters Commodore 64 game CARTRIDGE!

Btw the prices are in Euros, not GBP, but with the conversion, that isn't too much less. And the price does include shipping. And presumably accounting for Paypal taking fees if customers use that method (which I will because a bank transfer even to Europe is stupidly expensive). Yep CommieMate! Th...

Re: The Great Giana Sisters Commodore 64 game CARTRIDGE!

My personal feelings are that these ventures are to be applauded if they are labours of love & provide something useful to the community, but if they're money making get rich quick schemes that cash in on someone else's IP then they are to be condemned. I do agree my friend but such an old type of ...

Re: The Great Giana Sisters Commodore 64 game CARTRIDGE!

Sorry mates, be sure I'm not angry at all and I'm not afraid about the value of something I payd 18.000 Lires (9 GBP) and I don't want to sell. It's a misunderstandig, maybe because of my poor english. I must try to write better, so sorry again. I just had some bad feelings about something I read an...
