Re: The New gen thread PS5/XBOXsX (feat PONG)

Microsoft managed to survive having two consoles called the One S - including one without a drive - on the market, without too much blowback, so it'll at least be less confusing than that. Also, GamePass is such a good deal that I can see a lot of non-collectors just not buying games at all going f...

Re: MyFavouriteMagazines is gone

I think it sums up Futures attitude towards its customers that we have to essentially migrate our own details over to their new system for them.

Re: The New gen thread PS5/XBOXsX (feat PONG)

Confirmed that the Series S back compat mode is functionally identical to the One S back compat. So now 4k upscale, etc like on the One X. Also, I wonder, due to the slightly clunky and confusing to "non gamers" naming system, how many kids will wake up on Xmas day to a One S, not a Series S? Its c...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I have bought a virtual console this week: Pico 8. I will try to program a basic platformer game in it - the code seems straightforward enough. By the way, it is amazing what types of games have been programmed in this little console. I am most impressed with the Sonic-demake (https://www.lexaloffl...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

They have nailed the "feel" in THPS 1&2.

It plays just right.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Guess it depends what they do. If the model is larger and branded as such, that will be easy to throw an "XL" on the name like 3DS and DS to understand what you're getting. If its just upgrades on the screen and inside, it might be a trickier sale as I don't think DSi/New 3DS did as well as Nintend...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I do wonder if Nintendo need to release a "new Switch" just yet. A firmware update that unlocks the soc from the constraints placed upon it by Nintendo themselves would make existing games run better, and allow upcoming games to be more challenging on the technical side. After all, the "New 3DS/2DS"...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

So half a dozen games are cheaper physically? I cant recall if it was here I said or elsewhere, but very little of my gaming is Nintendo. They generally dont appeal to me, and I don't consider something like Animal Crossing to be a AAA game. At a fiver I might take a punt, but it's a series that bu...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

22.4m copies of Animal Crossing sold, and the console has shipped over 60m units according to Nintendo's latest financials. They are literally sitting on a pile of cash. Remember when people said Nintendo should stop making hardware. People still say that. Nintendo have a very firm grasp these days...
