Re: RetroN 5 Thoughts

The Ouya is terrible. There's a lot better Android based systems out there (I have the Mad Catz MOJO as my "console" based Android system for example). Which games can't you get to work? I disagree about the Ouya. I've got one and have never had a problem with running emulators. It's compatible wit...

Re: Best ever 8 bit (micro) arcade conversion

Commando on the Speccy was fantastic, Planetoid on the BBC great but my all time favourite has to be Bubble Bobble on the C64. All 100 levels, 2 players, single load, best authentic sound track and colour reproduction - an incredible programming feat. All home versions were great but as a whole pack...

Re: Games with awesome water

An average game, but Rapid Racer was quite cool on the PS1 for water effects. It was one of the first games to run 3D in "hi-res" on the PS1, with some nice Apollo 440 music.

Re: Best Mode 7 Games

I see a 'LOLOLOLOL' as a response to somebody's opinion a bit of an insult. This is all about opinion hence I said twice it'll be interesting to see what Retrogamer's take on it is. I take your opinion on what you class as a mode 7 title; fair enough. Just myself and a few others don't agree. That's...

Yep I find it hilarious too that somebody still doesn't understand what mode 7 is even after its explained to him multiple times.
No need to be impolite. I'll await the experts opinion in the article. Should be a good read.

Re: Best Mode 7 Games

That's not mode 7 its just some fancy rotation and scrolling effects. See my earlier description of what mode 7 is. I don't think you're right. For example, taken from Wikipedia: On the Super NES, a variation of Mode 7 allows pixels of the background layer to be in front of sprites. Examples are Co...

Re: Best Mode 7 Games

The Wiki is considerably light on games that use mode 7. There were a load more games that made use of it. I loved f-Zero, Pilotwings and Super Aleste, however ... A leftfield choice was S.O.S. This was based on a sinking ship. Got reasonable reviews in it's day. This was the best video I could find...

Re: Why did Outrun never come out on the 32X??

Seeing as Outrun was released in 86 and the 32x was released in 94, they probably thought it would be pointless with Virtua Racing being released. An Ages cartridge would have been good mind!

Re: MAME Recommendations.

There are some great unknown gems, but I would second 'The Pit' (rock hard but addictive) and a real twitch shooter called 'Tazmania'. Spent many a 10p piece on that ...

Re: Some images for Sinclair fans ...

Wasn't sunny this weekend! However I love Cambridge too. Agreed about the Acorn but struggled to find an original address for Acorn. I don't think the ARM building is it as it is on an industrial estate. Most pleasure was had from the Sinclair building as it still has that recognisable dome!

Some images for Sinclair fans ...

Hi everyone,

Spent the weekend in Cambridge last week and took a few pictures for the Sinclair fans amongst us. Thought you might enjoy them ...

Enjoy!
