Re: Childrens Film Foundation SKY343
CFF films were a mainstay of the Saturday morning pictures slot at our local Odeon back in the '70s but I do remember making a special trip to see The Glitterball.

Re: Your education.
Went to the local comp (5 mins walk from home - infants/primary was next door) then three years at the local college (1 year foundation and 2 years book design course). Then out into the wild! I liked school although I only did averagely at exams. I remember the last day as if it was yesterday. A ma...

Re: From The Forum Issue 143 - F-Zero
Seeing F-Zero (and SMW) in ACE consoles in London in November 1990 was bit of a revelation and was the point that saw me move over from computers (the Amiga, at the time) to Japanese consoles. Fab music and great, arcade-style racing that I can still happily play today (although the N64's F-Zero X i...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 137
Another issue that's well worth the price of admission, especially as Highway Encounter is, pretty much, my fave Speccy game. Great stuff on Mel Croucher, too
Honestly, I'm still amazed each month how such an ace mag exists on the highstreet. Long may it continue

50 points deducted from Gryffindor for the use of 'going forwards'.Darran@Retro Gamer wrote:The Annual is replacing the collection going forwards. It is still reprinted material.
So, will there only be one collection a year now? And how will I know what order they go in if they're not numbered?

I'll put in a vote for Comic Zeal, too. Handles .pdf .cbr and.cbz files excellently. I've tried pretty much all these readers now on my iPad2 and it's worth the money.psj3809 wrote:Comic Zeal is great for reading and importing your own .cbr files. Pricey but worth it

Re: From the forum issue 101
It's a game that I don't have a clue what the name is. Used to play it at school. It was a top-down shooter in space. Your ship looked like the Liberator out of Blakes 7 and it had a radar screen. The ship was always in the middle of the screen and the star field moved around you...... That sounds ...

Very smart
You'd think that with having a dad who was a great carpenter that I'd have inherited some of that skill. Alas no, I'm totally rubbish at anything like that and completely jealous of someone who's good at it.

Re: The New Nintendo Gamer Magazine - it's retrotastic!
Lets face it. Nintendont have that much new stuff of interest coming out and the stuff that is is usually based on older games I think that probably depends on whether or not you like Nintendo systems and games or not. The new Nintendo Gamer is great. It's far more of an all-round Ninty mag than be...

Re: The i Love Old Gaming Magazines - chat thread
P.S Will, i loved the work you did on them mags you made some real stand images, as a kid they really stood out on the shelves to me and my mates (probably the reason we bought them over the others!) :D I feel really privileged to have played some tiny part in that age of games mags :) I did actual...

Re: The i Love Old Gaming Magazines - chat thread
It's about this time that I drag out my issues of Personal Computer Games from December '84 and Jan '85. I still get a great nostalgic shiver reading those Knight Lore and Underwurlde reviews. Such great home computing times. Other than that I've been re-reading the old Mean Machines Complete Guide ...

Re: Issue 97 Official Feedback
Really enjoyed this issue. Although I'm big on all that Japanese console nonsense I much prefer reading about the '80s micro era so Zzap, covertapes and Antriad were right up my street. Great Oli cover, too. You know you'll have to get him to do ish 100, of course.

Re: 70s and Earlier - Electro-Mechanical Arcade Games
The electro-mechanical stuff were my first arcade experiences on holidays in the '70s. Really inventive, lots of black light and fantastic artwork. I've hunted high and low on t'net for info but apart from http://www.pinrepair.com there's not much out there :( Be great to have an article but they re...
