Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Got drunk and treated myself to the Capcom Home Arcade thing. Options are a bit lacking, but the unit itself is beautifully made, and there are some cracking games on there. £175 sounds expensive, but a decent Sanwa stick can go for £100, and I've spent a horrific amount on the ACA/Neo/Johnny Turbo ...

Re: Saturn Sega Rally

The Xbox360 / PS3 games were brilliant. The full-fat one had one of the most engaging handling models of any racer that gen, and the digital arcade one even had a recreation of the first track of the original. Brilliant titles that didn't get the love they deserved.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I really need to stop buying in these sales.... Namco Museum/Pac Man CE2 pack finally dropped to a price I can live with. £8.00 for portable Splatterhouse, Galaga '88 and Rolling Thunder 1&2? Sold. Shame that the simple brilliance of Pac Man CE has been somewhat over-egged in the sequel, but it's st...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Some stupid bargains on the eShop at the minute. Picked up SamSho at half price as it's still the best of the bunch. Super Chariot for 98p? Go on then. Nice LucasArts-styled point 'n' click The Mystery of Wooley Mountain for under a quid? Oh, all right. I need a bigger SD card.

Currently loving Super Burger Time on the Switch. Great update of the original.

Re: Konami shoot 'em ups

Behave, I'm surprised to see a post such as this on a retro forum. Of the games mentioned, I'd say only Typhoon is particularly difficult. I've 1CC'd Gradius and Thunder Cross, and come very close on Vulcan Venture, and I'm not particularly skilled by any means! Ghosts n Goblins is something I've ne...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

I picked up a game called Vektor Wars on sale on the eShop for 0.98.... really recommend it. I wave-based arena FPD with some incredible TRON-style graphics. Honestly, a steal at the price.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Picked up Vektor Wars for 0.97 and found a surprisingly decent TRON-themed arena shooter. Really good fun, especially at the price, highly recommended. Also Ghouls n Ghosts on MD Mini.... at least I'm trying to play it.... I was never great at it, 4th level was my best back in the day, but goddamn, ...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

Transformed was very hard in later levels such as unlocking the Afterburner plane. My friend Tuna bought Sonic Team and he said it’s censored hot. I managed to 3-star everything in it, and I don't consider myself particularly great by any means. Most trouble came with those events where you had to ...

Re: The first games you completed.

I remember being able to play TRON: Deadly Discs on Intellivision for so long that I usually ended up having to turn it off. I finished Super Cobra on Inty too, but I'm sure that just kept looping.

Re: Mega Drive Mini

Got mine and I'm very, very happy. I was a SNES gamer growing up, I only really experienced the MD via a mate. Well, I did have a JPN one some 18-20 years ago with a sizeable collection, before prices went stupid, but I bought that much stuff in such a short period of time back then, that half of it...

Re: What are you currently playing?

REsi 2. It's good stuff - controls well, smooth, looks good, and the Police Station itself is one of the most cohesive and impressive environments I've ever explored in a video game. I'm probably in a small minority that would have preferred a remake more along the lines of the GC version of the ori...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

Out Run (US Gold - Speccy) LOVED this in the arcade, screenshots looked 'okay' but boy oh boy was it slow. I 'tried' to like it but god it was awful They were also fraudulent, the screen shots show in magazines at the time looked NOTHING like the finished Speccy version. The Amiga shots were also a...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Ninja Spirit. It's a swine, still can't make it any further than the 4th round, but it's definitely one of the best side scrollers I've ever played for sheer unrelenting action. F-Zero on Switch. I swear I've probably spent more hours on this over the years than just about any other game I've ever p...
