Re: Fighting Fantasy

Although they aren't due out until early August, Port of Peril along with the new prints of Warlock of Firetop Mountain and City of Thieves are on the shelves in some WH Smiths.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 170

Heard back from subscriptions. An odd email claiming I'd said I'd not received the issue but it had been sent out. There are no replacements to be had, so extending subscription by one issue. Grateful for that but it did look like my email wasn't read. Yeah, I have just had exactly the same respons...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 170

I think I must have an especially bad issue as I have problems on pages 7,12,36,46,47 and 55. I'll drop an email to subscriptions.

It is a shame that the Obsidian article has come out of this so badly as I was really looking forward to article as I enjoyed that game and its sequel.

Re: Feedback Issue 93

I agree with the above posters, I enjoyed the board games article and enjoying seeing these kind of articles. Early games programmers took inspiration from a number of sources so anything which has provided considerable inspiration to the development of games has a legitimate connection to me. This ...

Re: Issue 92 Feedback Thread

I really enjoyed the Chariot race article too. The memories of the family helped capture the time so well but were wider than the usual article based around the programmer themselves. It was a shame that it was such sad circumstances which led to it being done this way but it did make for a wonderfu...

Re: Late spectrum games

There was a thread similar to this recently in the Games section of the World of Spectrum forums. I can't get into them right now but it was about the final full price commercially available games. It shouldn't be too far through the pages of the forum. I recall quite a few suggestions of late games...

Re: The Guide to Classic Graphic Adventures - new book

I bought the Kindle version of this on the day of release and enjoying it so far. Just got too many books on the go at the moment, one of the downsides of the Kindle for me

Re: Sneak peak at Issue 89

Looks good, hopefully subscriber copies may arrive before the bank holiday.

No harm with a bit of optimism.

Re: From the Forum Issue 89

Paradroid, still love the game to this day. Everything seemed to work with it, even the minimal graphics. None of the remakes seemed to have the same feel to me, although I quite liked Ovine by Design's version, it is always the original which I go back to.

Re: For the forum issue 86

Zombie Zombie does allow saving of its cities! On the startup menu there's an option to load a previously saved city. I had a horrible feeling that it may have allowed saving ( or at least loading) as I typed it but I checked the instructions online and could find no mention of it. The moral of thi...

Re: For the forum issue 86

I used to play Zombie Zombie for hours, trap the zombies in a box and then just take my time rebuilding the city. You couldn't save it at the end though so that hard work would be inevitably lost. If only we'd had emulators back in those days.

Re: The Most Important Isometric games

Although Ant Attack has been mentioned a few times, I would add Sandy White's follow-up Zombie Zombie just for the ability to redesign the city with the helicopter. I loved playing the game just for that feature.

Re: Retro Gamer 84 Official Feedback Thread: The Christmas I

Well mine finally arrived this morning. Only had a quick look at it so far but was very pleased to see MOO in there, one of my favourite games ever. Looks a good issue so I shall look forward to reading it when I get chance.

Re: Retro Gamer 84 Official Feedback Thread: The Christmas I

I'm still waiting for my issue too. All the other post which I am waiting for has arrived and hasn't been affected too badly so it must be something about RG. Maybe they are all huddled together somewhere for warmth...
