Re: Retro Gamer issue 181

Am I really reading an article about architectural structures in 8-bit video games? Who on Earth gave that the go ahead? Scraping the barrel a bit.

Re: From THe Forum 178: Share your Pac-Man anecdotes with us

Perhaps this? https://www.digitpress.com/library/books/book_how_to_win_at_pac-man.pdf or this https://www.digitpress.com/library/books/book_mastering_pac-man.pdf Thanks! Sorry, I'd forgotten I'd asked this question. Indeed, wow, the 1st PDF you linked to is almost certainly the one. Haven't seen th...

Re: From THe Forum 178: Share your Pac-Man anecdotes with us

I was pretty young when Pacman came out, I'm not actually sure I ever saw it in an arcade. I remember we had some sort of small hints and tips book for playing it which also (if my memory's correct) went through all of the ghost characters and their names. Anyone know what that was or heard of it? I...

Re: From The Forum issue 166 - First Amiga Encounters

I remember a friend of a friend had managed to get an A500 in the late '80s and had video'd himself playing some games so we could see what it was like. Distinctly remember seeing Starglider 2 first and being blown away just by the noises, I remember he switched views to outside the ship and the noi...

I don't know about worst, but Monkey Island 4 was pretty jarring and really not nice to play

RHLSTP

I quite enjoy the RHLSTP podcasts anyway but the most recent one was particularly good. Not least as it is Simon Munnery this time but also to top it off he spends a little while talking about his video game writing past:

nice.

Re: Retro Gamer 150 - Your Greatest Games Ever!

Maybe less old people are interested in retro nowadays? After all how long can you still like playing old games? How old is Chess? :) Late to this thread and to the voting it seems. Life got in the way again! Enjoyed the feature though. I was also surprised to see that many games I would have thoug...

Re: GOD IS DEAD (RIP Lemmy)

As an aside, good to see a few folk into Hawkwind here. A favourite band of mine for sure.

Re: Scanning a book

It was all cool in the end. A local printing / copying shop got rid of the binding for me for a couple of quid and my flatbed obviously scanned it in better quality than I could ever manage with the binding still in place.

Re: Scanning a book

Thanks both. I'm taking the book to a local printing / copying shop on saturday who will see if they can remove the binding, bit of a shame but the price to pay for having a decent scan. I did try my digital camera last night funnily enough but it didn't really produce the results I'm after, plus I ...

Scanning a book

Help! Anyone else tackled the tricky procedure of scanning a book into their PC? I've got a couple of old retro computing books which are roughly A5 sized and I'd like to scan them but a lot of the program listings etc go right near the spine of the book and despite putting a heavy weight on the fla...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 145

Really enjoyed this issue very much.
Massive plus point : The number of articles where there were screenshots from all the different machines that particular games came out on. More of this!
