Re: Subconscious Defiance In The Face Of New Tech
I've just said this in another post, but here seems as relevant: "Sometimes we have to go back in order to appreciate what we have today" Listening to Radio 2 at the mo and the sounds of 1960/61. Over the past 51 years, believe me, we've had some good, very good, bad, very bad and extremely bad (the...

Re: Your own gaming evolution
It's interesting to see how many people stick with a brand or genre in one way or another, makes for good reading without people bragging. For me personally I started with: ZX81 - Horizons and Wall !!!! You wouldn't believe they give that game away with Kids Meals these days! Spectrum 48K - Gotta lo...

Re: Endings...
I think a decent ending is really very important, even more so in the most recent Mario games. OK, not particularly retro as such, but in the past couple of months I've finished Mario Galaxy on the Wii, Paper Mario on the Wii and yesterday I comleted New Super Mario Bros on the NDS. All of them can ...

Re: Recycling Mobiles??
If you get no joy from the worthy causes already mentioned, quite often local schools, Scout Groups etc will do a collection as well.

Eepy Bird Rocket Car
I'm pretty sure there's a You Tube thread somewhere, but I couldn't find anything relating to these guys when I searched. If you haven't come across Eepy Bird before, you may want to check these guys and videos out. Their latest experiment is a Coke and Mentos Rocket Car: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: MAME Options?
We're planning on canabalising the monitor which came with the tower. As big and bulky as they are, it seems as good as anything else. My take on a cab is that the original games were designed to rob you of loads of ten pences in order to get to the final boss in a relatively short period of time, p...

Re: What's A Good Price On A Cab?
£70 is a good price, got mine for £50 but not including delivery. How little did you expect to pay!? :) I genuinely had no idea what a working empty cab would go for. I've been flicking through the usual suspects to try and get a scope of a price, but most seem to come with a game. Despite the cab ...

Re: What's A Good Price On A Cab?
Not bothered about it coming with a game, was more looking to mod it to a MAME cab. The guy supplies to pubs and outlets in the north east and I can get it dropped at my mates place. I'm pretty sure it would come fully working as he doesn't seem the kind of guy who would stiff me over on a dud. Unle...

What's A Good Price On A Cab?
I had chance to have a chat with a guy who supplies cabs to the trade the other weekend. I asked him how much a cabinet with working screen and a two joystick system would be. No game. He quoted me £70 delivered. Is this a good price and could it be modified into a MAME cab as I'm guessing something...

Re: Free Comic Book Day
I knew nothing about this, but on Saturday these guys came strolling through our local shopping center handing out comics to the kids: http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL353/7965758/14971885/386675527.jpg Little man chose the Simpsons Bongo one. It was only then that the other half told me that a loca...

Re: Got a bit of a shock yesterday...
Dude, that's really harsh what happened, but unfortunately that's the way things go these days. I've been sacked for Gross Misconduct before, Laid Off and even left jobless and homeless with 12 hours warning from one job I had. The upside is, whatever they throw at you can only make you stronger. I'...

Re: Save The Floppy!!
If you're going to try and save any portable data storage device surely the Zip Drive must be the one to look to. 100 floppys on a solid cart which fit neatly into your pocket and wasn't going to get 'fluffed up'.

Re: Favorite Tetris Game
I've spent far too many hours blowing blocks up on Tetrisphere on the N64. The 3D aspect of the game really makes you think ouside the box. Once you get to grips with the concept the controls are easy and it generally doesn't deviate too far away from the original Tetris concept. I've tried playing ...

Re: New Dr Who
He he, so the Sport had it right 20 years ago when they discovered a WWII bomber on the moon  I've not watched it yet, but someone at RR said I should be suing someone about something relating to this... Too Easy ;o) Personally I think it more related to Terry Pratchetts Great A'tuin and I'm su...
