Did anyone try the Mario Tennis Aces demo? Have to say I was pleasantly surprised, it seems like a real return to form for the franchise. I really enjoyed it.
The demo did its job on me as I've now pre-ordered the game.

Re: Nintendo releasing a new NES !
The mini N64 rumour mill is gaining momentum. Yes please :) Yeah, but they really need to cut some sort of deal with Microsoft/Rare for it to hit its full potential. Otherwise there'll be a lot of people just looking and sighing at what could have been. Totally agree there, it still has some terrif...

Re: games where the original was best
Jak and Daxter springs to mind, could not get into the sequels at all. Completely agree with this. The ‘gritty reboot’ didn’t work for me. I didn’t get into the sequels to Spyro either, but that was for different reasons. Crackdown 2 is an obvious one to list here, and Perfect Dark Zero is for me t...

Re: Smash Bros new character predictions/hopes
King Hippo seems possible. I’ve been expecting them to introduce King K Rool and Wart for years too. I’d like more of Nintendo’s own characters this time round as opposed to third party creations.

Re: Pick your own fantasy kart roster!
I wouldn’t mind a Nintendo all-stars karting game. Shake-up the Mario Kart formula somewhat. Mario Kart All-Stars or something.
I won’t make a list but you can probably guess who might be involved.

Re: Most wanted unreleased games?
Sonic X-Treme comes to mind. I was super excited about this when I was a kid. It was of course long before the Sonic series was as inconsistent as it now is.
The other one for me is Fez 2. I thought the original was excellent, really creative. I was excited to see what new ideas this one would bring.

Re: The return of mascot games
Obviously there are rumours of a new Spyro otherwise I’d say that.
I’m not sure who owns the rights to Earthworm Jim but I’m surprised that’s not had some sort of revival. Its cartoonish brand of humour seems perfectly suited to the cell shaded style modern machines are capable of.

Smash Bros new character predictions/hopes
So Smash Bros is coming to Switch, complete with the Inklings from Splatoon. Which characters do you think/hope will be added this time round? I think we might see: * Crash Bandicoot - to celebrate/promote the Crash collection coming to Switch. Meaning you could have the dream match of Mario vs Soni...

Re: Controversial gaming opinions
Final Fantasy VII is a bunch of cut scenes in search of a game to go with it. Grrr! Screw you treguard, screw you! I’m not saying this is the case here - I’m pretty sure it isn’t. However another (perhaps) controversial opinion I have is that some journalists/critics purposely underrate FF7 ...

The new Wolfenstein. It’s probably my favourite game of last year. Brilliant fun and a great story too. The perfect balance of serious and absolutely crazy.

Controversial gaming opinions
Do you have any opinions about games that you think will have people shaking their heads in disagreement? Share them here! You never know, they might not be as divisive as you think. Here’s mine: * The Gameboy Zelda games (Link’s Awakening and the Oracle series) are far superior to A Link to the Pas...

Re: Gaming elements that annoy you.
* Subtitles that you can’t switch off when there’s voice acting - this took away from the Breath of the Wild experience for me. You should always be able to switch off subtitles. I find them very distracting, and at worst, immersion killing. The reverse is also true - there are people that can't he...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Ordered one yesterday, after waiting to see how it fared in its first year. Picked up Mario Odyssey for starters. Any recommendations for indie exclusives in the eshop? I have Blaster Master Zero for the 3ds, which I very much enjoyed. Golf Story and Snipperclips are good fun. Golf Story in particu...
