Re: c64 question

Same reason that the Atari and Dragon drives were so expensive, they were "intelligent" drives that came with on board processors and additional circuitry and chips that you would not find on generic a drive.

Re: Your Top Voice Sample

The speech on Alpiner and Parsec on the ti99/4a was miles better than anything else doing the rounds at the time, it was clearly audible and was not a robotic mess, it was an actual human voice. Male voice for the climber in Alpiner and a female voice provided a commentary on your performance. The f...

Re: The system/console you feel most sentimental about

Console, has to be the good old woody VCS, computers, it has to be the ti99/4a with the Atari 800XL pushing it for second place.

It pains me to say this, but-Dallas by CCS on the ZX Spectrum, don't know why-but I love this game.

Re: Greatest Personal Computer

I will stick with my first machine, the humble ti99/4a, I became increasingly pissed off by the lack of available software when I had my first machine but now I can afford to buy my own stuff and expand the system-I can see what a great system it could have been had the price been right in the first...

Re: Supposedly "great" games you tried and hated

Super Mario Kart, bought it when it came out on the SNES and f**king hated it immediately, I have tried it again and again but still hate it with a passion.

Re: Buying original spectrum games nowadays

Keyboard membrane is a piece of censored to change over-so I would not let it put you off buying a real speccy. The various models all have their own issues, the original and the plus suffer from keyboard problems as does the Sinclair 128. The Amstrad produced units have a common problem with the be...

Re: From The Forum issue 148 - SNES memories

Obviously moving onto the SNES from the NES was a great step, the pack in Super Mario World was a great game that demanded to be played to completion and the biggest testament I can pay to the SNES is that I finished more games on that machine than any other (and it was not because they were easy). ...

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 148

Other than the home pong type games, my first arcade games would probably be things like Boot Hill and Night Driver when I was on holiday as a kid. The chip shop not far from my home brought my next exposure to arcade cabinets, they used to keep two machines in the shop and would change them every s...

Re: MATTEL AQUARIUS - ANY COLLECTORS/ FANS?

I also have one, don't have much of a collection though. It is without doubt THE worst machine I own and I very rarely feel the need to fire it up, still looks nice though. I don't actually think they are that expensive on Ebay considering how few were made, it's a veritable snip when compared to a ...
