Re: Food/Drink from the past

anyone remember a wispa-shaped chocolate bar that has a coconut and cherry filling? Possible called Cariba? I remember this vivdly, apart from the name. It may have been...wait, wait... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5qDKaeQ9GI I was always curious about them but sadly don't remember ever actually...

Re: Improving the magazine

I'd just like to mention that, when I said "Mario has been done to death at this point" I wasn't just talking about RG...and he's now been done to death in this topic too.

Re: Improving the magazine

I agree; Mario has been done to death and I, for one, have zero interest in reading any more about the franchise.

A couple of noobish MAME questions

Firstly, a large number of the games I have are unplayable, or rathe MAME won't recognise them. Running an audit throws up a ton of errors with a lot of the ROMs but they're all the standard currently available versions of those titles and many of them ran with no trouble on a previous version of MA...

Re: Food/Drink from the past

Zoom!s were fantastic - just the nicest ice lolly ever; I remember coercing my mum to buy them by the box whenever I saw them. Sadly, like so many other tasty things they were suddenly 'new and improved', ie greatly inferior. Unsurprisingly they seemed to disappear soon after that... I'd kill for on...

Re: Food/Drink from the past

Bleh. Some of my sharpest, harshest childhood memories are of the occasions when I was given liquorice or marzipan. 'Hey, looks like sweets...nyum nyyum...oh sweet baby Jesus...did I do something wrong?!'. Punishment sweets; I can think of no other explanation.

Re: Help someone name these arcade games

Fantastic - that's it~! Thanks Ralph, been hunting for the name of that game for ages...To MAME! Might push my luck and see if anyone can remember a top-down F1-style grand prix racer circa-late 80s or early 90s. I remember it had pretty large tracks, with smallish but quite detailed sprites, and I ...

Re: Help someone name these arcade games

If I can be cheeky and hijack this topic a little, I've spent years trying to find out the name of some random coin-op I played around 1990; it was a Vietnam (I think) war shooter with a title (I think) somewhere along the lines of BAT-29. I remember the opening level being a leafy village where you...

Re: Improving the magazine

Oh, right, suggestions... I demand pieces on the following, ideally a minimum of 8-10 pages on each (let me dream): - the Jagged Alliance series from Sir-Tech - the Police Quest series from Sierra (and pseudo-sequel Blue Force), before they spun off into the SWAT games - hey, why not, the SWAT serie...

Re: Improving the magazine

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but there's something that's been bugging me for a while... I just think that it's a bit mis-leading and pointless to have a game mentioned on the cover (issue 80 with The Lords of Midnight at the bottom of the cover for example) when it only has a Retro Revival spr...

Re: What games have you given up on recently?

Final Fantasy X. Got a long way in it too, but just stopped caring. Loved 6 & 7 back in the day, so this may have something to do with irritating voice acting and a preponderence of fey emo characters in modern Japanese RPGs.
