Re: Dad makes son only play retro games for ten years
What? How can you possibly say that, when it does still dislodge them? The negative aspects and perceptions developed in younger people are built on Shakespeare being forced on people (something some of us never move on from) builds the false perception. Shakespeare is something which is still essen...

Re: Dad makes son only play retro games for ten years
For something to be "timeless" it has to stay truly relevant. It just mean Shakespeare's works aren't suddenly going to become the books of choice for young teens. Really, really bad example to use. For every fad that comes along there are still millions of copies of the Complete Works sold every y...

Re: The Wonders of the World Cup
the guy clearly isn't right in the head. And if you look at the attacks the way he carries them out is very similar, it's like something just snaps in his head and he has little control over it. A total freak! The main psychological theory is that growing up as a kid in a rough neighborhood he used...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?
I find BC hard to watch anyway so find Sherlock pretty difficult to enjoy with him as the focal point. Elementary, despite my reservations is actually quite watchable as a modernisation and really enjoy Millers portrayal. That could be purely personal of course, I'm sure the purists loathe them both...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week
Having just got a PS4 going through some of the PS3 games I never got round to finishing but getting them out of the way before buying new stuff and first done is Brutal Legend. Actually really enjoyed it and will probably do a little more of the "clean up" trophies and explore more of the world as ...

Re: Space Hulk, is the new version better than the old one?
I've not played the new one, my contempt for GW meant it's release completely passed me by. It looks like it's very different to the old version as it's closer to the board game and become a turn based squad level strategy game. A few reviews seem to suggest it was released a bit buggy but that's be...

Re: How Video Games Changed The World
I think the key difference between MK9 and, say, MW2 is that one is supposed to be a serious political thriller and the other is played for laughs. Now, it's easy to scoff at the notion that CoD is a political thriller (because viewed through that lens it's terrible ) but that's what it's trying to...

Re: How Video Games Changed The World
If I'm going out of my way to cut a woman in half from the vagina up because I get some sort of strange sexual pleasure (as Matt implied was the purpose, that it's sexual and the way it's depicted in the show was to touch that nerve) then I'd say so. In order to make it happen over and over again it...

So yes, in his own words. They went and found something particularly over the top and graphic in order to make a point and raise discussion. It doesn't take a lot of thought to see that's what they were doing, the fact he says "in a video game you MAY see that 25 times in a night" tells you that. Ye...

^ It's an American thing so I doubt it's atheists, it's more a combination of trying too hard not to offend anyone and the fact you've got the likes of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa around the same time. With more people deciding to wish each other a happy thanksgiving and the rise in popularity of Hallowe'...

I hope you didn't find anything sexual in that MK clip... but on the other hand I wouldn't say that there are totally no sexual connotations to a helpless woman being slic...

That's alright, the game comes with uncensored subtitles so they're not missing out on anything offensive in any way, shape or form.aztecca wrote:^^^

Re: Transformers 4 - Character reveal
I've got a love/hate relationship with them. They do some things right with good action scenes of robots smashing each other up but there's a lot that annoys me as well. I understand triyng to add humour but sometimes that went wrong as they were trying to hard and some bits were so cringeworthy it ...

Re: 2013/14 Football season chat
Seems that Spurs are attempting to squeeze an extra few Euros out of Real. the amount of cash that Spurs have laid out (presumably on the assumption that Gareth is going).. Spurs have only got a net spend of £22 million and that doesn't include the boost from the new TV deals so are in the black ev...
Re: wrestling
I'd not really seen too much of him due to lack of TV coverage but caught Jay Lethal at a local show last weekend and was really impressed with the way he carried himself. Genuinely seemed happy to be there and was talking to anyone who went near him (whether they wanted to or not, seemingly!). Late...
