Re: 800x600 on a widescreen monitor
Haha. I assumed you'd already tried your TV settings! It's not well publicized that you can do that. I don't think many people know (or care, probably). Try to find a place on the web that explains it. I still have not. Even on... http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/ It wasn't easy to find e...

Re: 800x600 on a widescreen monitor
Does your monitor have an option to maintain the aspect ratio? Some do, some don't, its worth poking around in the menus. Failing that, your graphics card may well have options to do it. You got it! :D I first tried my video card options but I couldn't find a way to fix it there. Then I looked at a...

Re: 800x600 on a widescreen monitor
Would a scaler work? The XRGB-3 has a PC input and you can upscale the PC image to any resolution. Not sure if it can downscale... (I assume you're TV supports 640x480 as a PC input). Also, have you tried Powerstrip? that might work. Those are interesting options that I had never heard of before. T...

Re: 800x600 on a widescreen monitor
Another option came to mind that I haven't explored yet... Is it possible to run a windows game in DOSBox? If not, in time there will probably be a "Windows Box"... http://www.retrogamer.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19967 That's good to know! I will use that (Virtual PC) if I need to in future. :)...

Re: 800x600 on a widescreen monitor
Some games have an option to play in a window and some do not.

800x600 on a widescreen monitor
What do you do if you want to play old PC games that will only play in full-screen mode at a maximum resolution of 800x600 on a widescreen monitor? That's a question I have been puzzling over for a few months now and I finally worked out the best solution for me. There are at least four possible sol...

I'm going to say... The SIMS ...just to p*ss everyone off, since it's not a popular game here.

Re: Bad Gaming Habits
I have another habit that I don't think was mentioned...
Some games I like to play as well as is possible so that I get the upper hand on the game. To do this I use the best "cheat" available - the save and restore feature, until I have played that section of the game as well is possible.

Re: Bad Gaming Habits
I play for too long sometimes. If I really get into a game I can play it non-stop for 10 hours easily. A couple of times I played for 24 hours solid, with only a couple of 5-minute breaks. Also, with many games, I like to ensure that I have seen EVERYTHING the game has to offer - every possible miss...

Re: Game Of The Decade 2000-2009
I can't really comment on this since I have played so few games made in this decade - and I have played NONE of the ones mentioned so far ...yet.
...Good recomendations to play in the next decade, maybe!

Re: Revisiting old school adventure game
I think people got put off by the mention of "pop-ups"...
...It's not YOU who get the pop-ups - they just form part of the funny visual story.

I want to know... Did people find it funny or offensive?

Re: Lord Of The Fan Remakes
The NEXT "Lord of the Rings" fan movie is just out - called " Born of Hope ". It's higher quality than "The Hunt For Gollum", IMO, but maybe not as exciting - at least not to me. http://www.bornofhope.com/ It's about 400 MB and one hour long. "A scattered people, struggle to survive in a lonely wild...

Re: Alot for hours spent on a game = good game?
Back in the days when I tried to finish every game I bought I did waste a lot of time on poorly designed games.
But not now, since I have so many good games to choose from and not enough time to play them all anymore.

Re: Photo's of your retro collection.
Here's my Atari 800XL set up, back in 1984 (or thereabouts). The table that its on. Does the second level pull out to make the table bigger? I'm convinced we had the exact same table when I were a kid. Nice dog pics. Yes, it did expand... It's quite possible your parents had one like it. Luckily, b...
