Re: Gleylancer - high quality cover-artwork / inlay scan?

bah!! it's a lot more boring then I would have expected for a game called "Gley Lancer" (not sure what i was expecting exactly, maybe something more Thunderforce-y)

Re: Best handheld for retro gaming?

a couple over here- I still have a GP32 frontlit, forever wishing I'd upgraded to the backlit (maybe someday but probably won't ever!). I know it's way underpowered compared to the current generation of handheld beasts out now, but it's always served me well with the sheer amount of devices it could...

Re: Arrow Flash

okay that curse box is freaking me out. really. shame on the OP cause Musha is one of the best things ever in the history.. of.. things. Actually I guess Compile's shooters have to grow on you, and "you had to be there" to appreciate it now. It still is quite fun as is most everything else they've m...

Re: Virtua Hamster!

ahh interesting! I can see what they were going for - "let's take the bonus rounds of sonic 2 and make a whole game out of it" - back then, having any kind of (untextured) polygon display in a console game was still a pretty big selling point. For whatever reason they decided to can it, take your pi...

Re: X68000 Ebay Lot (over £10,000!!!)

X68000 is one of those mysterious systems i will never lay my hands on :( in some ways it was head and shoulders above all the other 16-bit systems at the time of it's release (though I don't think any would argue the SNES trounced it when it arrived). Technically it was a powerhouse with honest-to-...

Re: Star Fox 2 & Star Ocean (in English) on Ebay

damn that star fox is tempting. if it was @ $100 i would jump on it (or if i had more disposable $)

never played it and i was under the impression that the beta floating around was incomplete - though i haven't paid attention to the issue in a very long time. the world needs a new (old!) starfox!!!

it is a wonderful game, almost trancelike in the way it plays. this coming from someone who spent hours only playing the demo, i never even bought the full version..

Re: Sidescrolling-platform-shooters!

i don't think GnG would count as a platform shooter - it is a wonderful series of games, but it's more a straight platformer (where you happen to shoot things). Same goes for something like Mega Man, in my opinion. I always looked at those games as being completely different to something like Contra...

Re: Only fool with Retrogaming needs?

i'm the only person i know who has a serious affinity for retrogames - lots of my friends may get coerced into reminiscing fondly about them now and again, but i'm the only person i know who would in this day and age hell out 100 bucks to but a vectrex setup (cough cough). that's fine though and it ...

Re: Some GBA Questions

i have a gameboy micro. i can't stress how amazing the thing is - it's so damned tiny, so easy to take anywhere!

stick a flash cart on it with tons of old NES and SMS/etc games and you are pretty much set for your entire life, don't even bother with the actual GBAgames, hahaha...

Re: Sidescrolling-platform-shooters!

i keep hearing about this surprise attack recently. i think i must check it out. anyway here are my contributions- rolling thunder 2 on genesis is great (but, can be quite slow) midnight resistance (genesis version) also a good contra knockoff ESWAT sega genesis, you see a pattern here? very shinobi...

Re: Emulators VS. The Real Stuff

one note i will make - in spite of my pro-emulator stance, i do however detest the usage of save-states, they certainly can ruin the way a game is meant to be played. not in all cases, but much of the time, yes. a lot of the older titles were designed, quite sadistically, to be played through in one...

Re: Emulators VS. The Real Stuff

I will get hated for saying this - but a lot of times i prefer the emu's. Okay, I grant you that you're not getting an 100 percent accurate version of the game you are playing, as it was originally intended to be enjoyed - in so many ways it's going to be a half-assed experience. But on the other ha...
