Re: time travel
One of the last puzzles in Infocom's Sorcerer was time-travel based. You had to get a combination from your older self and give him/her(yourself) a spellbook so that later you could give your younger self the combination and receive the spell book. It was a memorable part to the game and very diffic...

Re: Games you quit at the last level.
I just remembered a game that I really liked but gave up at what I assume to be the last level. It was Die by The Sword. Can't remember exactly what I had to do but it wouldn't let me or I missed something. I gotta go back and play that I guess.

Re: If you could re-experience a game for the first time??
Thief the Dark Project or Morrowind, I can still hear the theme song to morrowind in my head if I just think of that game.

Re: Doom ported to VIC-20?!
I love that the music is accurate also. I guess on real Vic-20, it needs the 32k expander and 3k Super Expander or apparently a Mega Cart or Final Expansion but I just gave it a go in VICE and it truly is impressive.

Re: Lightest/Heaviest/Biggest/Smallest
ZX80/81 has to be a contender for smallest/lightest computer since they're both smaller and lighter than the Speccy. There are several similar systems of the era not so high profile that may edge them out though. ZX80 was a kit, so ZX81 is potentially the only real retail contender from Sinclair. A...

Re: Terrible games buys you completely regret.
In 1983 or so I spent $25 on an Atari game called Swordquest -Earthworld. It is IMO, the worst Atari 2600 game ever(Yes including ET.)
Recently I picked up Two Worlds, albeit very cheaply but I just can't believe it got decent reviews. I never gave it a chance.

Re: Defining PC Games
I came to PC a little late in the game, being an Amiga user.
For me it was Thief:The Dark Project, Unreal and Half-Life, then CounterStrike a little later. These titles just changed the FPS genre totally. The worlds were more alive now with new mechanics that immersed me so much more.

Re: Name of old game- Haunted House type thing
No offense against the OP but this is funny... -Involved possibly collecting a key and other items Well that narrows it down :) Anyway, I bet it's a World Builder game for the Mac. There is one named Haunted House that came out in 1990 but sadly no screen grabs. It most likely looked something like ...

Re: What are you currently playing?
Just finished F.E.A.R. It has been sitting on my shelf since 2006. I really enjoyed it. A bit repetitive and claustrophobic but it kept me coming back for more. Great fire-fights and weapon feel. The "bullet time" gave me too much of an advantage so I had to ramp up the difficulty. The scares were w...

Re: Your personal favourite hidden gem for system x
At the time neither of these were hidden but not many mention these two C64 games. Bandits by Sirius Software added enough to the Galaga gameplay to make it very addictive. Very tough game. You have to defend your outpost's food supply from the invaders. You have a shield which helps but at later le...
