Re: The XBOX ONE / PS4 discussion thread

That's interesting.

Does that involve the setting where it auto downloads updates and stuff? Not sure if Mrs Oxide will appreciate the increase in the electricity bill just to appease my impatience.

Re: The XBOX ONE / PS4 discussion thread

My internet connection is quite slow, so I don't blame the Xbone for how long it takes to download.

That said, it's annoying as heck to switch it on and wait ages for it to boot up and connect to Live. The PS4 definitely seems to switch on quicker.

Re: If You Could Choose One System

Probably the Amiga for me. As much as I love some of the console exclusives from the time, the presence of so many good strategy games swings this for me.

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I have just bought a Commodore 64 with a bundle of games. We had a Spectrum as a child, so it's nice to see what I missed out on. As you would expect, I managed to get a copy of Fast Food, too. All I can say is that it's an inferior port in every way except the music. Otherwise, I am very happy with...

Re: What single game have you re-played the most over the years?

Looking over my collection, I think I was wrong. It's probably Dynasty Warriors 3 I've spent longest on. I used to play marathon co-op sessions with my flatmate years ago.

Re: Who gets the main TV at night?

Mrs Oxide has priority with the TV in the lounge, but my consoles are hooked up to a large tv in our spare room, so that doesn't bother me too much.

Re: Doctor Who Community Buzzing With Rumours

I'm confused. The monks spent ages running simulations of how to invade earth, then didn't actually invade. They just showed up when the most incompetent lab worker ever made a mistake. They could have shown up at any impending disaster. There didn't even need to be one since we have already establi...

News stories that decide to interview someone who was a couple of streets away and has absolutely nothing of value to add to the reader's/ watcher's understanding of what happened.

Re: I miss unlockable fighters on fighting games

I think you're absolutely right about the tornament crowd. These days, it's all about your game being key in esports. Street Fighter V focuses on it, GT Sport promises to focus on it. It's the next goal for companies to aim for. It's a shame, as I used to love unlocking new fighters, even if they we...

Re: What single game have you re-played the most over the years?

Soul Calibur, probably. One of the few fighting games to be great in single player and multiplayer.

Re: Highly rated games that you do not like.

I forgot to mention Ocarina of Time. Now, before anyone's head explodes at my wrongness, let me explain. The game felt like such a disappointment at the time. The dialogue was awful, especially amything uttered by the Great Deku Tree or Mido. Hyrule field was a large, open space populated by a singl...

Codemasters "Simulator" games on the 8 bits

I'm just curious what people think of Codemasters' range of simulator games. Feom fruit machines, to bmx and Atv, there were plenty of games, but did they trnd to be any good? Are there any you would recommend?

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I picked up a physical copy of 2Dark for the Xbone today. Haven't had much chance to play it, but I like the style at least.

Oh, and Injustice 2.
