Re: Retro Gamer Issue 104

Well I just wanted to say I loved the mag as always and enjoyed The Rev's take on KO. I'm biased though, I like him. He's genuinely entertaining to read and normally mentions something I've not been aware of before. For my own part, reading this thread and people arguing over games that are getting ...

Re: Bomb Jack - Best Conversion

For me it's the Spectrum version of BombJack that wins hands down, not just from the playability angle (in which it excels) but for me it holds some lovely memories of my sadly deceased brother. We used to spend hours battling on my Spectrum + setting new highscores for the other to beat alongside o...

Re: Official Feedback Issue 99

Just wanted to say I loved the latest issue.... I personally love it when there's a computer heavy issue. It's why I started buying the mag. Even though the 8bit result seemed inevitable, I still enjoyed reading the article as it really did give props to both machines in an almost equal measure whic...

Re: From the forum - Retro Gamer turns 100

It's a complement in itself that years after I stopped buying any magazines I picked RG and was hooked. Only mag I've ever subscribed to and still as brilliant as the first time I read it. Long may RG continue to rock it old skool. Only needs type in listings and it'll be like I've been trapped in t...

Re: Issue 100.

How about a party night with 100 readers/subscribers selected at random? Hire a decent venue, nothing too grand and have a few machines set up (that shouldn't be a problem) and spend an evening chatting/drinking with likeminded retro heads.

That'd give you a nice feature for the 101st issue as well.

Re: C64 Vs Spectrum - Let's end the debate

It's an almost impossible poll, I owned all the good systems at the time, Speccy, C64 and CPC464. I have to go with the choice if I was going to a desert island.... for me by the narrowest of margins it would be the Spectrum. It may have been the inferior machine from a pure technological view but w...

Re: The Greatest Gaming Moments Of All Time

The opening sections of Bioshock , the burning plane, the fire reflected off the sea, the swim to the lighthouse, the art deco, the music, the descent into Rapture...just rewatching it on YouTube sends little tingles down my spine. I can only speak for myself, but never before has a game establishe...

Re: "Minority Report" - Games on less mainstream platforms

Choplifter (Vic-20) Omega Race (Vic-20) Both these games looked brilliant on the Vic-20. I adored my Vic, I came from from a single parent family and I'll never forget my mum taking me to Rumbleows and buying a Vic and a 14" colour portable. God nows how she managed to afford that working up to 16 h...

Re: Once bitten?

I thought the highlight of the game was after I'd been bitten after bumping into a load of vampires in a cave.... I spent about a week getting the cure and the game suddenly became an epic experience. The slowly becoming intolerant to daylight was brilliant. I didn't even realise I'd been bitten for...

Re: Female Gamers

My missus is heavily into Assassins Creed, finished the first two and has just started AC Brotherhood. She's also a massive F1 fan so thats a nice bonus. Well that and a cracking rack.

Re: Best downloadable games on PSN

I spent 10 quid on Dead Nation and it's right up there as one of the best games I've played this year. Brilliant twist on zombie games in general and heaps of playability. Nice homage to Valve as well, well worth a look at, I'm pretty sure there's a demo available.

Re: most ridiculous MEGA RARE on ebay?

Er yeah, I'm aware!

But it's still going to be a crushing disappointment for a kid with a 360 to have eight year old games that aren't widescreen and no live capabilities !

There's some cracking games there but it's not the games that kids would play today!

Re: most ridiculous MEGA RARE on ebay?

I reckon parents that don't know that xbox means xbox 1 are bidding it up to buy a job lot of games, little johnny will be over the moon when he unwraps his xbox 360 and that bundle of games to go with it.
